Oliver Hudson and his sister Kate might have been known by a different name, if they had taken up their step-dad on his kind offer.
The siblings, who are featured in a Skims holiday campaign, were discussing the issue on their Sibling Revelry podcast on Tuesday.
Oliver, 48, explained why he and Kate, 45, turned down Kurt Russell’s offer to adopt them.
‘I only say this because my dad — he was around for a little bit, then he bailed,’ The Cleaning Lady star said of his father Bill Hudson, 75, to whom their mom Goldie Hawn, 79, was marred from 1976-1982.
‘We have a good relationship now, but it took a long, long, long, long time, but we’re there,’ he explained.
‘Kurt came into my life when I was six, five or six and essentially he raised me. I’m the man I am today because of him, right?’ Oliver stated.

“There was a moment when he asked us, myself and Kate, if we wanted to be adopted, and we said no.’
‘Not that we were — you know, very aware of probably what it even f–king meant,’ he continued.
‘We were six and 12 or however, I don’t remember the age, but we just said, “Well, we don’t need it. The love is right there.”‘
Russell, 72, began seeing Hawn in 1983 while they were working on the film Swing Shift.
They welcomed their son Wyatt, 38, in 1986.
The couple, who have been together for more than 40 years never married.
In an appearance on Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace, the Oscar winner explained it was because neither of them wanted to get divorced again.
Russell was married to actress Season Hubley from 1979-1983, and they share a son, Boston, 44.

‘When it doesn’t work out, it ends up to be big business,’ Hawn told the interviewer.
‘It’s always ugly. Somebody actually has to take a look and say, “How many divorces actually are fun? How many divorces actually don’t cost money? How many divorces actually make you hate the person more than you did before? How many divorces have hurt children?”‘
The Christmas Chronicles star said she likes making the choice to be in a relationship.
Hawn and Russell got together in 1983 while working on Swing Shift. They couple have never married. ‘I like the idea that I can wake up in the morning and make decisions every day if I want to be here,’ Hawn explained on Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace (Pictured in Beverly Hills in September 2024)
The couple are parents to son Wyatt, 38, who is also an actor. Kurt is also dad to son Boston Russell, 44, whom he shares with former wife Season Hubley (Pictured in Los Angeles in December 2015)
‘I like the idea that I can wake up in the morning and make decisions every day if I want to be here,’ Hawn explained.
‘I mean relationships are hard,’ she stated.
‘They’re not always easy. There’s all kinds of hurdles we go through. There’s things that we believe in, things we don’t believe in, we agree on.’
‘So I think ultimately staying independent with independent thinking is important, so you can hold on to yourself, and you can actually have that feeling.’
