Whoopi Goldberg’s future on The View has been a hot topic following a string of awkward and sometimes controversial moments on the show over the past year.
Goldberg, 69, enraged conservatives and seemingly sent ABC bosses into a panic on Monday’s show when she was told to issue a clarification live on air after taking a jab at President Trump.
The Sister Act star was handed a note from producers, which she tore up before going on a rant about the incident.
It sparked a firestorm online, with one user writing, ‘About time they started calling this hack out. Do better – FIRE THEM ALL.’
Another commented, ‘Why are they still spewing lies, hate and misinformation. Get rid of these dinosaurs.’
It’s just the latest in a long line of questionable moments from Goldberg that have raised eyebrows and stirred speculation that the long-running host could exit The View soon.
Whoopi Goldberg ‘isn’t going anywhere’ on The View despite a string of controversial on-air moments
However, a source at ABC told Daily Mail recently that the actress has nothing to worry about when it comes to her gig on the Emmy-winning daytime show.
‘Whoopi will stay on the show for as long as they will have her. She’s not as controversial as the other hosts and certainly isn’t even considered to be on the chopping block,’ the source revealed.
‘She gets paid very well, and typically always follows orders from producers.’
The insider said that doing The View has become ‘part of Whoopi’s life’ and that the star will be staying put unless she gets a ‘bigger offer’ somewhere else ‘or her health deteriorates’.
‘She also loves having the flexibility where she’s off every Friday, so she uses that time to travel or work on other projects,’ they added.
Another source close to the show said that Goldberg will remain on The View ‘for the foreseeable future’.
‘Every few years, the show has its SNL moment and considers changing the panel and mixing it up – and sometimes that is exactly what happens and people leave, people are replaced, fired, or resign,’ they explained.

‘But as of right now, they’re happy with the panel and the direction of the show and many love Whoopi,’ they continued.
‘She is staying for the foreseeable future, as long as she wants, and replacement talk or discussions about her leaving have not taken place.’
The source added that ‘ratings are great’ for The View and that the network is satisfied with the press coverage that the show generates.
‘Nobody is looking to mess up the current chemistry from those at the table to producers behind the scenes. There can and always will be issues, but Whoopi isn’t one of them,’ they stressed.
Daily Mail has contacted representatives for ABC and Goldberg for comment and has yet to hear back.
Goldberg has had a number of scandals on The View this year.
In June, she sparked backlash after claiming that black people in the US are just as oppressed as people living under the Iranian regime.

On Monday, Goldberg was handed a note live on air asking her to clarify a statement she made about President Trump – leading her to angrily tear the message up in protest.
The note – which the Daily Mail has learned came from producers on the show – was handed to Goldberg by co-host Sunny Hostin during an exchange about presidents using an autopen to sign documents.
While discussing Trump’s appearance on 60 Minutes the previous night, Hostin zeroed in on Trump’s recent pardoning of convicted Binance fraudster Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao, after the president admitted he had ‘no idea’ who Zhao was during the interview.
‘How come you don’t know who this guy is?’ she asked about Zhao, who pleaded guilty to failing to sufficiently combat money laundering on his cryptocurrency exchange in late 2023.
‘Because he used an autopen,’ Goldberg cut in, suggesting Trump may not have known about the pardon.
As the conversation moved on, Hostin subtly passed a note to Goldberg across the table.
‘What the hell? What? “We don’t know if Trump used an autopen to pardon,” Goldberg said as she read it. ‘It was a joke!’
‘Yes, we don’t know whether Trump used an autopen to pardon-‘ replied Hostin, a legal expert, as Goldberg continued to complain.
‘Oh, come on!’ Goldberg said, before ripping the note to shreds.
‘Well, I’m sorry. The hardest thing about this job now is no one understands nuance.
‘You know when you hear a joke, when somebody’s fooling around, when they’re not saying something specific. Especially on this show, I’m very specific when I’m…pointing stuff out. When I’m making jokes, you know when I’m making jokes!
‘This is ridiculous,’ Goldberg concluded.

Trump pardoned Zhao on October 23, four months into his 87-month sentence, with a statement from the White House blaming the conviction on the Biden administration’s ‘desire to punish the cryptocurrency industry.’
The View has been known for regularly criticizing the Trump administration and the president’s policies while offering mostly kind words for Democrats.
In May, top brass at ABC News and parent company Disney asked the show’s panelists to dial back their constant complaining about Trump.
The White House suggested that The View ‘is the next to be pulled off air,’ after Behar remarked that Trump was ‘jealous’ of former President Barack Obama.
Guests on the show this year have included Biden, Kamala Harris, Congressional Democrat Jasmine Crockett, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, former President Bill Clinton, and Democratic senators Bernie Sanders, Chuck Schumer, and Elissa Slotkin.
A recent study from Media Research Center’s Newsbusters confirmed the program featured almost no right-wing guests this year.
