Whitney Port admitted she had a ‘secret’ she wanted to tell her now-husband at the time of their engagement.
The 38-year-old former reality star — who recently claimed she felt ‘pressured’ to lose weight for The Hills — revealed she had a mounting financial debt when Tim Rosenman popped the question back in 2013 during Wednesday’s episode of Money Rehab podcast.
‘When I got engaged, I remember having, like, a $35,000 credit card bill,’ she said, adding she felt ‘ashamed’ of the ‘secret’.
‘I had known about it for a while and I was letting it rack up and was just paying, essentially, the interest each month’.
Whitney, who met Tim on set of The City, said she knew she had to have a clean slate with her future husband and spilled the beans to him one night shortly after the engagement.

‘I told him one night, and he was definitely shocked but he was like, “We’ll figure it out,”‘ she recalled.
‘I remember at the time, luckily, being able to pay it off quickly.’
The actress said she fell under financial duress from not saving money while on reality TV.
‘I spent a lot, and I think that that became this behavior of mine that I’ve tried to quell as I’ve gotten older,’ she added.

The debt reveal comes after Whitney said she felt a ‘pressure’ to be thin when she became famous on The Hills.
The star had just finished high school when she started filming The Hills and explained that she initially thought she was ‘so much bigger’ than her female co-stars and her sudden rise to fame ‘affected’ her relationship with food but has been ‘taking steps’ to resolve things.
Asked if she felt a pressure to be thin when she starred on the show, she told UsWeekly: ‘Definitely. When I started filming The Hills, I was coming off of my freshman year of college, where I’d gained a ton of weight.
‘And then I saw myself on screen and was like, “Oh my God, I’m so much bigger than all the other girls on the show.”

‘I think it was the first thing that started affecting my relationship with food. [Later] I was always able to maintain [my weight] because I felt like I was in a healthy spot. It’s just this past year stuff caught up with me.
‘I’ve [been meeting] with a nutritionist, and now I’m digging into what my actual issues are. What I’ve realized is that they’re entirely environmental. I lost my dad 10 years ago. I’ve been on an infertility journey of five years, and there was just so much sadness and loss.’
Whitney has struggled with her mental health over the years, but Whitney feels she’s in a much better place now.
She told E! News: ‘I think I’m growing up – I’m almost 40.
‘I took charge and I’m continuing. I’m a work in progress like everyone, but I definitely am doing the things that I set out to do that make me happy and make me feel my best.’
