Where’s the $50K gone? Drag Race winner Lazy Susan reveals what she really spent the prize money on and her reaction to THAT Hunter Schafer moment

It’s only been a few months since Lazy Susan was crowned the winner of Ru Paul’s Drag Race Down Under, scooping up the $50,000 prize and the hearts of fans across the globe.

But what has the season four superstar been up to since the show’s finale? And more importantly, what did she spend the five-digit stash on?

‘The first thing I had to do was, you know, just spend it on completely frivolous things,’ Lazy Susan exclusively told Daily Mail Australia.

‘The Melbourne wine industry has felt my presence.’

But the rest of the prize money, she will be putting into a project that’s close to her heart: a film about a drag queen.

‘It’s early days,’ she said. ‘We just shot a proof of concept, but it’s a drag horror film which I’m really excited about.’

She went on: ‘Those are two of my favourite things in the world; drag and horror. They are kind of natural bed fellas.’

Lazy Susan described her cast mates as the ‘Kumbaya’ season. ‘We were all just so excited for each other,’ she confessed.

‘Because Max was having such a hard time personally, in the wake of the death of her mother, I think it really set a tone on set of caring.’

Melbourne drag performer Max the Drag Queen broke down in tears in an emotional on-camera confessional about grief during the season.

This week, a collective shiver went down the spine of the LGBTQ+ community after American transgender actress Hunter Schafer was issued with a new ‘male’ passport.

The 26-year-old Euphoria star, who came out in her teens, said she ‘is never going to stop being trans’ and ‘a letter and a passport can’t change that,’ as she showed it in a video.

This happened after President Donald Trump signed an executive order on his first day in office, declaring the U.S federal government will only recognise two sexes and they cannot be changed on government-issued documents.

The U.S now issues passports with just male and female, based on the person’s sex recorded at birth. Previously, people could apply to have their gender marker changed.

‘We know that we are here. No piece of paper can disappear us,’ she assured her fans.

‘I just want us now to stand together more than ever to be vocal and oppose against the forces that are attempting to strip us of our rights.’

So, how is she planning on battling anti-trans sentiments in the political sphere? ‘By making two-story high effigies of gay icons,’ she quipped.

Melbourne-born Lazy Suszan won the Drag Race gold at an intimate finale viewing party on Sydney’s Oxford St in December.

‘I’m humbled and honoured to receive the prestigious down under crown, my reign of terror shall be swift and sweaty, bow to your new lazy overlord,’ she said will accepting her crown.

‘This drag monarchy shall last a thousand years or until I get tired of holding this sceptre. My first order of business is to invite you to the Down Under tour in March with the cast of Season 4. Book now or feel my wrath.’

It marks the second time an Australian queen has snatched the crown in the Australasian reality competition,  after fellow Melbourne queen Isis Avis Loren won season three.

Previous Drag Race Down Under winners Kita Mean and Spankie Jackzon are both from New Zealand.

The latest season of the original series is currently streaming on Stan.
