When Will Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Tie the Knot?

It will no doubt be the wedding of the year when it takes place – and unsurprisingly speculation has already begun over when the big day will be, after Travis Kelce proposed to his girlfriend Taylor Swift.

The pop star, 35, and her football player fiance, also 35, announced that they are set to wed by sharing romantic snaps of their stunning proposal to Instagram, alongside the caption: ‘Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married!’ 

The proposal came just before Travis is set to begin his new NFL season with the Kansas City Chiefs next month, which may hold a big clue as to when the couple will tie the knot in the future.

Many have predicted that this will be the tight-end’s last season playing football as he nears the end of his illustrious career, meaning that he and Taylor will have much more time to plan a wedding once he steps back.

Travis has also suggested that he is happy to take a back seat when it comes to their future together. 

In fact, for a while, friends have jokingly been calling him ‘Mr. Taylor Swift’, which the football player thoroughly approves of.

So much so that he’s said to quip back in response: ‘I’ll be her other half. I’ll be the little lady.’

This also suggests that he is happy for Taylor’s career to take precedent as she is set to release her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3 and much of the coming months will no doubt be taken up with promoting the upcoming record.

The American star was quietly working on new music for the album while on the Eras tour, which wrapped at the end of last year at her final show in Vancouver.

Taylor typically leaves around six months between her album release and the beginning of the corresponding world tour.

Meaning that she is likely to set off on the road of a potential Showgirl tour in May next year if she chooses to do so.

If this rings true then as Travis’ season draws to a close in January, that means they will have around three months free at the beginning of next year to die the knot.

But they are set to have a lot more free time if Travis retires at the end of the upcoming season, meaning they could take their time planning a wedding for the following year.

Those behind the scenes at the Chiefs are said to be bracing for Travis to announce his retirement this year, following early off-season rumours that he is getting ready to end his career.

Travis suffered the worst year of his career so far in 2024, with lows in yards (832) and touchdowns (3), for any season in which he appeared in more than one game.

The future Hall Of Famer also had an underwhelming Super Bowl at the beginning of the year when they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, 40-22.

A source told ESPN: ‘Since he announced his return to the Chiefs in late February, all signs have pointed to the 2025 season being Kelce’s last.

‘Since June, Kelce, who is in the final year of his contract, has spoken about his future with the team through only this season. 

‘Several members of the Chiefs’ organization, in the front office and business department, are coy to use the word ‘retirement’, but they have already expressed their appreciation for Kelce’s importance to the franchise and have said they hope to experience plenty of joy while cherishing his performances.’ 

There has been a lot of talk about when Travis will hang up his jersey, after he is believed to have debated calling it quits last season with his post-career opportunities flourishing.

The sports star has branched out into podcasting with his brother Jason, who share insights into their lives in weekly episodes. 

Travis will also ‘100 percent’ have a future in Hollywood if he walks away from the NFL this year, an award-winning movie producer claimed earlier this year.

It was reported at the time that he was considering retiring from football after the Kansas City Chiefs’ crushing defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LIX, which saw them miss out on a historic three-peat earlier this month.

At the end of his 12th season in the NFL, he admitted it may well have been his last as he weighs up retirement, pointing to the ‘wear and tear’ on both his body and mind as a potentially decisive factor.

But following the end of his sporting career, he has been backed to embark on another successful opportunity under the bright lights of Hollywood after impressing on his debut as an executive producer.

According to Emmy-award winning entrepreneur and producer Paul Scanlan – who worked with Travis on the upcoming comedy-drama movie My Dead Friend Zoe – the Chiefs legend is destined for big things in the movie and TV world once his football career is over.

‘100 percent,’ he told People when asked if Travis has a future in Hollywood. ‘Even just seeing what a difference it’s made having him involved in our project, I would say yeah.’

‘He’s such a likable guy and he’s a good actor,’ he added. ‘I mean, he’s proven that he’s been in some good material. And he’s a good producer.’

Travis made his acting and presenting debuts on the small screen last year after starring in FX horror series Grotesquerie and hosting Prime Video’s ‘Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?’ He has also landed a cameo role in the upcoming sequel to Adam Sandler’s iconic Happy Gilmore movie.

Earlier this month it was revealed he has also ventured into producing, working with Scanlan and more on My Dead Friend Zoe, which was written and directed by Kyle Hausmann-Stokes.

And Scanlan sayid Travis wants to continue throwing himself into ‘purposeful projects’ on both the big and small screen.

‘He’s made a difference in our project,’ he continued about the NFL star. ‘He’s really good at generating attention and getting attention on a worthy project. He’s a giving person, he’s very Midwestern that way.

‘I feel like he wants to do purposeful projects. And having him involved has helped us achieve our mission, getting this film out to more people where it can really make a difference.’

Travis’ popularity has soared in recent years amid his whirlwind romance with Taylor Swift, yet he had already starred as a Saturday Night Live host prior to their relationship.

Taylor clearly supports her man’s dreams of becoming an actor as they were seen talking sharing a close conversation as they made their grand arrival at Amerant Bank Arena to watch the Florida Panthers play the Edmonton Oilers in June.

A lip reader revealed the really sweet thing Taylor said to her budding actor boyfriend.

NJ Hickling broke down the interaction to Daily Mail after a video captured the two enjoying an intimate chat and it seems the pair were discussing Travis’s potential as a movie star.

The conversation started with Travis saying: ‘Yeah cos I’m big, they’re quite good jackets. It’ll be tailored, has a hat and everything.’

To which Taylor replied ‘That’s crazy’ then sips on her drink while he showed her something on his phone which prompted her to say ‘Oh wow.’

Travis then asked ‘do you want that?’ to which Taylor sweetly quipped ‘You’d look like a movie star.’

The athlete then concluded: ‘That looks like the perfect one.’
