Iconic SBS newsreader Lee Lin Chin has made an unexpected return to social media after a two year absence.
The veteran presenter, 72, recently shared a throwback image of her as a young journalist to Instagram.
‘I’m back from being locked out of this account for over 12 months. The reason I was blocked? I can’t say for sure, but my last published posts give me quite the inclination,’ she wrote beside the image.
The Jakarta-born star then revealed she believed she was banned from using the platform for publicly expressing her political views.
‘I’ll have more to say shortly, but for now, as always, free, free Palestine!’ Lee wrote.
‘Thanks to Elle Savage on TikTok for this trip down memory lane. Even as a teenage girl, I knew my straight fringe was an undeniable slay. xLee.’

One close colleague said ‘she came halfway out of retirement’ to film a commercial in 2023, ‘then promptly went underground again’.
Another friend told the publication ‘I couldn’t tell you exactly where she is… she has never liked doing interviews because she simply doesn’t like talking about herself.’
It’s understood the former broadcaster splits her time between Sydney, Singapore and London.
