Wendy Williams revealed that she has stepped outside only twice in the span of a month as she got candid about her isolating conservatorship.
The TV personality, 60 – who was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia – appeared in a documentary called TMZ Presents: Saving Wendy which dropped on Tubi.
The star was placed under the guardianship of Sabrina Morrissey in 2022, but Williams has since denied that she has dementia and compared the NYC facility she is staying at to a ‘prison.’
Wendy also claimed she is not ‘cognitively impaired’ and her family broke their silence last month as they they search for an attorney to help her ‘regain control of her life.’
The TMZ documentary was filmed on a sidewalk below the facility she is at, with the camera angled upwards at her fifth story window since the former talk show host is not allowed to have visitors.
In a snippet shared by the outlet, Williams said her life within the past year has been ‘isolated’ and added, ‘Where I am is this place where the people are older, you know what I’m saying?’

‘They are in their 90s and 80s. I eat lunch and dinner in my bedroom. I don’t eat out there with the people that live here just ’cause it’s so god***n depressing.’
She continued to explain her living situation and added, ‘There is a bathroom, there’s a closet and the TV which was purchased by me through the guardian person.’
TMZ founder Harvey Levin – who interviewed the star – then questioned, ‘Are you allowed to go out?’
‘No, no. I am not allowed to go out,’ the star explained. ‘I can call you, but you can’t call me.’
Wendy expressed that she has ‘asked the guardian person for an iPad since years it seems like. But an iPad – can I please have my telephone back? Can I please be able to call, you know, my family?’
‘What is the problem with me calling and talking to friends of mine? They’re not allowed to come in here – friends of mine. You know what I’m saying?’
Levin then questioned Williams within the past 30 days, how many times she has been given permission to go outside.
‘In the last 30 days I went out twice,’ Wendy revealed, adding that each time was for dental appointments.

Harvey then brought up her guardianship under Sabrina Morrissey in documents that TMZ has obtained.
He pointed out that the judge said that ‘the guardian – that’s Ms. Morrissey – is to permit Wendy as much independence as is practical.’
Williams let out a loud laugh at that statement with Levin saying, ‘This sounds more like a prison than independence.’
‘Hell yeah!’ Wendy strongly agreed. ‘Hell yeah. Listen, this system has failed. This system has failed from top to bottom regarding this guardian and everybody involved with that.’
‘The system has failed,’ the star further emphasized, and then told Levin, ‘I want my freedom back. How about that?’
Last month in January, Wendy previously discussed details of her conservatorship under Sabrina Morrissey when she called into the radio show The Breakfast Club.
At the time, she insisted to hosts DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God and Jess Hilarious that she is not ‘cognitively impaired’ and is ‘trapped’ at a facility in the state of New York.
Williams also said on the radio show that she has only $15 and that Morrissey took her old phone away, leaving her with one where she can only make calls – and not receive any.
At one point, Wendy broke down in tears and was joined by her niece, Alex Finnie, for support.

‘I am not cognitively impaired, but I feel like I am in prison,’ the star said. ‘I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s. There’s something wrong with these people here on this floor.’
‘I am definitely isolated. To talk to these people who live here, that is not my cup of tea. I keep the door closed.’
Wendy added, ‘I watch TV. I listen to the radio. I watch the window. I sit here, and my life goes by.’
Her niece, Alex, further explained that Williams has ‘a bed, a chair, a TV, a bathroom and she’s looking out one window at buildings across the street.’
‘She’s there every day, all hours of the day, every week, every month, she’s not getting proper sunlight,’ Alex added.
‘I went to New York in October to visit her. And the level of security and the level of questions that there were in terms of, “Who am I? Why am I here? What’s the purpose?” I mean, it was absolutely just horrible.’
It was also revealed that Wendy cannot receive any calls, and also does not have any access to the internet or laptop.
The TV personality expressed that she has spent her last three birthdays alone at the facility and stated, ‘This is what is called emotional abuse.’

‘They won’t allow you to leave or have visitors. So you can’t even leave and take a walk if you wanted to, or take a trip or visit family members.’
Williams became emotional as she expressed her wishes to be with her father for his 94th birthday this month in February.
‘I don’t know if I’m going to be able to see my dad on his 94th birthday. The day after that is not promise,’ the star tearfully told the radio hosts.
Her niece defended Wendy on the call and explained, ‘Anybody that knows my aunt knows she’s always been a unique personality. How she’s talking, that’s her. That’s who she is. Don’t try to twist how she is.’
Also last month, the star’s family broke their silence in a statement to DailyMail.com and said they are looking for a new lawyer to help Williams end the guardianship.
‘The family of Wendy Williams wishes to address the current circumstances surrounding her guardianship and her ongoing journey toward reclaiming her self-determination.’
‘As we navigate this challenging time, we believe it is crucial to advocate for Wendy’s rights and autonomy,’ they expressed.
‘We are reaching out to esteemed Ben Crump Law Firm to assess the guardianship arrangement currently in place for Wendy in New York City.’

‘Our primary goal is to ensure that Wendy’s best interests are being served and that she has the opportunity to regain control over her life and decisions.’
Her family added, ‘Wendy is an extraordinary individual who has inspired countless people through her work and personal journey. It is our firm belief that she deserves the opportunity to live with dignity and make her own choices, free from undue influence.’
‘We are hoping that – through the legal system – we can shed light on this situation and work toward a resolution that honors Wendy’s voice and wishes.’
‘We ask for privacy and understanding as we navigate this complex process, and we thank Wendy’s fans and supporters for their unwavering love and encouragement during this time to “#FREEWENDY.”‘
They concluded with, ‘Wendy has always been a fighter, and we are committed to ensuring that she has the resources and representation she deserves. Together, we will work diligently to help Wendy reclaim her self-determination.’
Her loved ones have also launched a GoFundMe page to help raise $50K to free Williams from the guardianship.

Wendy also previously hit back at her guardian’s attorney Roberta Kaplan – who claimed that William has ‘good days and bad days.’
The TV personality told TMZ last month, ‘How would she know that? I’ve never met Roberta Kaplan and I have never talked with her. I’m isolated and locked away in a luxury prison. So much for the Me Too movement.’
TMZ’s Harvey Levin also claimed that Wendy seemed coherent mentally and didn’t show signs of a disability. ‘I can tell you that the Wendy Williams that I spoke to today is the same Wendy Williams that I knew 10 years ago.
‘There is no difference. She was lucid, she was articulate, she was with it, and she was opinionated.’
