Wayne Rooney Takes Sons Kai and Klay to Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi After His 40th Birthday

Wayne Rooney treated his two eldest sons to a trip to Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi over the weekend – just after celebrating his milestone 40th birthday.

The former footballer was joined by Kai, 15, and Klay, 11, at the theme park during their October half term school holidays.

Wayne also shares two other sons Kit, 8, and Cass, 6, with his wife Coleen, though they weren’t present on the holiday.

Sharing snaps from the trip on Instagram Wayne  wrote: ‘Some day with my lads @kairooney.10 and Klay in Abu Dhabi. @ferrariworldyasisland and @ufc @visitabudhabi

‘#InAbuDhabi #UFC #Ad #FerrariWorld.’

The trio looked to be enjoying the fast-paced rides as they sped through the air in various vehicles.

The trip comes just after Coleen paid a sweet tribute to her husband Wayne as he celebrated his 40th last Friday.

Taking to Instagram, the WAG, 39, shared a love-up snap with the former footballer as they beamed for the camera.

Alongside the post, she penned: ‘Happy 40th birthday @waynerooney …love you xxx’

Kai also took to his Instagram Stories with a sweet snap next to his parents.

The family were living it up in Dubai as they celebrated Wayne’s big day.

‘Happy birthday dad,’ he wrote next to the photo with a red heart emoji.

Coleen’s post came after Wayne insisted he would be dead if it wasn’t for his wife, who he says ‘saved’ him from alcoholism.

The former footballer opened up on just how bad his struggles became in a interview on former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand’s podcast.

In his early years, Wayne said all he wanted to do was go out and ‘enjoy my time with friends’, however, he said it got to a point ‘where I went too far’, which left him ‘struggling massively’.

He admitted: ‘I didn’t think I could turn to anyone. I didn’t really want to because I didn’t want to put that burden on anyone.’

Wayne recalled one incident where he ‘drank for two days straight’ before turning up for football training.

In a bid to conceal his problem from the rest of his team and manager, Wayne would use eye drops, chewing gum and aftershave to mask his two-day binge.

However, he explained: ‘Come training and at the weekend I’d scored two goals and then I’d go back and go and drink for two days straight again.’

In an emotional admission, Wayne praised his wife and mother of his four children Coleen, revealing: ‘I honestly believe if she weren’t there I’d be dead.’

He gushed: ‘Coleen is massive. It’s bad because we’re two kids from Croxteth and then we grew up together and obviously we started dating and we got married and have kids.

‘But when I was 17 she could see, she knew my mind and she knew I was a bit out there. You know, I loved my football, obsessed with football but also I loved a night out or whatever going out.

‘She’s seen it very early on and she’s controlled that. Well, not controlled but helped me control that massively.

‘And at times you’re like, “What are you doing? Why do you keep saying don’t do this or don’t do that?”

‘How she’s managed me because I needed managing.’

He continued to praise his wife, adding: ‘The best person and I’ve made mistakes in the past which are well documented and whatever, but I’m a little bit different at times and she keeps me on that path and she’s done it for 20-odd years.’
