Wayne Lineker Exits Ibiza, Admits Party Life Makes Him ‘Miserable’ as He Focuses on Healing Sober.

Wayne Lineker has officially left Ibiza, he announced on Sunday, as he admitted the party lifestyle makes him ‘miserable’ now that he is sober.

The O Beach owner, 63, who is the brother of footballer and broadcaster Gary Lineker, made the announcement on Instagram.

The famous party man revealed last month that he is two months sober after secretly entering rehab earlier this year.

Now, Wayne has revealed that it is no longer possible to stay in Ibiza while living a sober lifestyle and has made the decision to leave the island – and his club – as he ‘needs a little more time to heal’.

Sharing the news of his departure, Wayne posted a picture of himself at O Beach and wrote: ‘So I made the decision to leave Ibiza this morning before the island won again.. Living my former Ibiza lifestyle is now impossible for me.

‘Walking into Ocean is very different for me now being sober. Honestly, I thought I would be able to cope with it, but I found myself becoming a little bit miserable – hiding in the restaurant or leaving early which is totally not my character at all.

‘It’s tough being the centre of attention too for all those people when they are shall we say “very merry”.. that mixed with the music, the sunshine, the shows, the dancers, the vibe, the venue, the orange cups in the air surrounded by what seems an eternity of bikinis makes it very very difficult.’

He continued: ‘In rehab therapists talk about triggers, which basically means staying away from environments, places, certain people, events etc that will lead to temptation – and let’s face it, there is no bigger trigger in the world than Ocean for me.

‘One day I’m hopeful I’ll find a new version of myself that can step back into the beating heart of Ibiza. but for now, I just need a little more time to heal… and that’s what recovery is.

‘If there’s anyone out there reading this who’s in a similar spot, it’s ok, you can face your demons. Get yourselves help .. going to rehab was the best decision of my life!’

Discussing his next steps, Wayne went on to reveal he is returning to the facility where he attended rehab to record a podcast about his journey.

‘Next week I am going back to Priory Life Works @priorygroup and doing an interview/podcast with their production team, Priory Life Works Surrey where I spent 6 weeks in recovery to do a special interview and tell my story, the journey I walked, sharing how rehab changed my life and ultimately kept me alive,’ he said.

Last month, Wayne revealed he was turning over a new leaf and was finally enjoying having a ‘normal functioning brain’.

In an Instagram post, he revealed that he was in Dubai for the O Beach opening party, explaining: ‘just because I’m not drinking its cool and I’m happy to experience it from a normal functioning brain for once in my life.

‘is actually quite exciting .. felling [sic] sober is starting to feel normal to me now. But the difference is I feel fresh every single morning and cannot wait to get out of bed instead of wanting to stay in bed.

Wayne continued: ‘Brain focus is mad’, as he vowed to ‘announce my journey properly and the reasons I went into rehab.

‘Yes I went in to rehab!! And I said yes yes yes! Best thing I ever did.’

He went on: ‘It was for both alcohol addiction and other mind altering substances.. no one in the world has a story like mine it’s impossible.. so get the popcorn ready..

‘I love you all and thank you again for your love care and undenying [sic] support/ concerns.

‘I am 72 days clean I just want to help anyone I can now and if Wayne can give up ANYONE CAN!!’

Wayne revealed in August that he had finally put an end to his 17-year feud with brother Gary Lineker.

The warring brothers reunited at the wedding of Wayne’s daughter Tia in Mallorca, with Wayne then publicly declaring his love for his brother as he shared a snap of the pair embracing.

Wayne captioned the picture: ‘Great to see my bro and my nephews at my daughters wedding #reunited #happy #family.’

It marked an end to a feud that had spanned nearly two decades and torn the Lineker family apart.
