Vicky McClure on Joyous Connections at Her Day Rave Events with Cancer Survivors and Carers.

Vicky McClure has reflected on meeting cancer survivors, carers and people grieving at her popular ‘day rave’ events.

Day Fever is the brainchild of Line of Duty actress Vicky, 42, and her husband Jonny Owen and the enterprise has sold out parties across the UK.

Targeted at the over 30 demographic it aims to give people the chance to party ‘and still make it home in time for dinner’.

In a new interview Vicky opened up about how much the events mean to some people who are all fighting their own battles behind the scenes.

She told The Mirror‘It goes beyond the music. We hear powerful stories. We’ve met people at our events in the middle of cancer treatment, in remission, people grieving, caring for loved ones. They can let their hair down and find moments of joy.’

‘I know from personal experience that, when you or your mates are going through hard times, the best thing you can do is get them out.

‘Day Fever is somewhere you’ll get lost in music. It’s a beautiful atmosphere and people look out for each other. The music will help you – save you, even.’

As well as Day Raves Vicky was appointed an MBE after she founded the Our Dementia Choir in 2019.

It came after her late grandmother Iris was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and found comfort in music.

Back in August Vicky left The One Show viewers stunned as she took to the stage for a surprise live performance with rock band Reverend and The Makers.

She appeared on the BBC programme alongside frontman Jon McClure, 43, and actor Sam Claflin, 39, where they joined hosts Alex Jones, 48, and Clara Amfo, 41, on the sofa for a lively chat.

However, it was the unexpected musical moment at the end of the show that really got fans talking.

Vicky joined Jon and the band on stage for a performance of their latest track Haircut, which dropped on July 18 – and she didn’t disappoint.

Following her incredible performance, fans took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) in droves to praise the star.

The month before, the TV star announced to her Instagram followers that she would be joining the band Reverend and The Makers on their new track.

In a collaboration post, the band teased their new music video, which shows Vicky and the Reverend and The Makers lead singer Jon performing on stage.

They captioned the post: ‘HERE IT IS. TV legend @vicky.mcclure singing on record for the first time ever.’

‘Some words from Vicky “I’m no Whitney (laughing emoji) but i love music. Making this with Jon & Rev was such a chilled experience. All i hope is you enjoy it, sing and dance along”.’

‘HAIRCUT is out July 18th but you can pre save now using the link in the Rev bio.’

She previously fronted the BBC’s Our Dementia Choir documentary, which aired in 2018.

The two-part series followed the acclaimed actress as she embarked on a deeply personal journey to explore the true power of music in combatting dementia.

In the documentary she formed a choir in her hometown of Nottingham made up entirely of people living with dementia, aiming to discover whether music could make a measurable difference in their lives.

Formed during the documentary, Our Dementia Choir is still going strong, coming together to sing and share powerful performances with audiences across the country.
