It comes after Vicky McClure admitted she feels ‘very lucky’ to have already found her niche for dark gritty roles, as she discussed her new psychological thriller Insomnia.
The Trigger Point actress said she is always left ‘wanting more’ after starring in tense and thrilling series, claiming she is ‘never left wanting to star in a sitcom’.
Speaking to The Mirror, Vicky shared her liking for the dramatic roles and ‘dark kind of work’, but said she has no idea where her love for it started.
The Line Of Duty star said: ‘Some of the stuff [I do] is really dark and you can’t help, as an actor, putting yourself in their shoes to try and think about what that might feel like and how you might get to that place.
‘I think I do a lot of dramatic, dark kind of work. God knows why! I always work hard and I enjoy what I do – I’m bloody lucky to do it.

Vicky plays as a successful career woman whose life starts to unravel when she suddenly stops sleeping in the upcoming thriller Insomnia.
She leads in the British drama based on the book of the same name by Sarah Pinborough.
The actress plays the character Emma, who fears she may be losing her mind when everything in her perfect life begin to go wrong.
Two weeks before her 40th birthday, she stops sleeping – just like her mother did right before she had a psychotic breakdown on the night of her 40th birthday.
This leaves her gripped with fear as Emma’s mother Patricia Bournett (Corinna Marlowe) always said that Emma would end up like her because she has the same ‘bad blood’.
Emma’s world starts to unravel and she realises that she can only prevent herself from following in her mother’s footsteps by digging into her painful past.
Vicky said that what happens with Emma throughout the show is ‘beyond off-kilter’, adding some of the scenes are ‘heartbreaking’.
Insomnia is the latest British programme to be distributed by Paramount+ following A Gentleman In Moscow, also a book adaptation.
