Veteran Radio Stars: Unrecognizable in Childhood Throwbacks!

They are two of Australia’s most renowned radio stars and together they have co-hosted a top-rating breakfast show for over two decades.

Over the years, the duo has become famous for their playful on-air banter, cheekily tackling everything from news to social issues.

One of them has expanded his career into television and is a judge on a popular reality TV series, while they co-hosted Big Brother Australia together in 2008.

On Thursday, the veteran presenters shared some AI-generated images on social media, showing themselves hugging younger versions of themselves.

They also posted precious childhood throwback photos, where they looked almost unrecognisable compared to today – though their trademark cheeky grins were unmistakable.

So, can you guess who they are?

That’s right: It’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, the iconic KIIS FM breakfast duo.

The pair captioned the AI images with the words: ‘We had to jump on the trend. Hugging our younger selves.’

They are two of Australia’s most renowned presenters and they signed a record-breaking $200 million deal with Australian Radio Network (ARN) in November 2023 that would see them remain on air until 2034.

They are believed to be earning a salary of $10 million each a year.

In January, the duo opened up about what their extensive contracts stated would happen to the show if one of them were to pass away prematurely.

‘I’ve got a whole page in there about what happens if you die,’ Jackie told Kyle.

‘Oh yes, I’ve got that as well. Actually, I’ve had that for quite a few years. And I think you only just put that in yours this year,’ her co-host confessed.

‘Wait. Why was I in yours? Was I more likely to die?’ Jackie exclaimed.

Kyle reassured her the death clause is something the lawyers came up with years ago, but that the new deal was a chance for Jackie to add her own individual stipulations.

‘They [lawyers] rang me when they were doing this new deal and said “Jackie wants this [death] clause”,’ he said.

‘I said, “well, she should get that.” I’ve had that for years.’

As part of Jackie’s contract, the host specified she wanted the option to leave the show if Kyle passed away.

The KIIS FM co-hosts both started their radio careers early, but didn’t really ‘make it’ until they were randomly paired up together to host Austereo’s national Hot30 Countdown in 2000.

Since then, the on-air powerhouse has gone from strength to strength and received a host of industry awards and consistently top ratings across Sydney.
