Van Damme Delays Supanova Appearance, Fans Furious

Jean-Claude Van Damme left Brisbane fans fuming over the weekend when he cancelled his Supanova appearance at midnight the night before.

The Belgian martial artist, 65, was set to attend the comic and gaming convention on Saturday, but the event announced just hours earlier he would be ‘delayed’.

Sharing a post to Instagram, a spokesperson said there were ‘travel complications’ which meant the actor would not arrive in time for his ‘one-day-only’ appearance.

‘Our team is working diligently with Radioactive Pictures as we speak, endeavouring to have him visit us on Sunday instead if possible,’ they said.

‘For those that have already purchased Jean-Claude’s Autograph and/or Photo-Op, these Tokens will be automatically refunded by Ticketbooth with no further action required by you.

‘For any cash sales, please see the staff at the Supa-Star Tokens Stand. Saturday Day Passes purchased in anticipation of JCVD can also be swapped to Sunday upon arrival at the event in this instance.’

‘Please stay tuned for further details on Jean-Claude’s prospective Sunday appearance, including new Panel and Photo-Op times, which will be released as soon as all the details are confirmed,’ they continued.

‘We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused, Supa-Fans, and hope that we can return with some great news for Sunday.’

Fans flocked to the comments to express their frustration over the delay, with some demanding more answers from event organisers.

‘Oh no what a SURPRISE,’ one person wrote, as another commented: ‘Devastating.’

‘How about giving people who got the photo tokens the option to reschedule to the Sunday instead of refunding them?’ said another.

‘Travel complications. Bulls***. There’s nothing complicated about travelling if you’ve already booked and organised your transport,’ someone else said.

‘So what really happened, did he sleep in and miss the flight?’

Others chose to make light of the situation, writing, ‘VAN DAMMIT!’ and, ‘That’s a Damme shame.’

Daily Mail has reached out to Supanova for further comment.

It comes after Jean-Claude sent fans into a frenzy earlier this year when he finally ended his legendary feud with Steven Seagal after three decades.

Once mortal enemies, the two martial arts icons shocked fans in April when they were seen posing together at Steven’s birthday dinner.

The bad blood between the action stars had run so deep, the photo of the sudden truce sent fans wild, with some even crying AI.

At the height of his fame in the 90s, Steven, 73, famously took every opportunity in interviews to call out Jean-Claude as a fake martial artist.

The actor and martial artist, famous for his hard-charging 90s action movies, Under Siege, Marked for Death, and On Deadly Ground, has previously boasted he would ‘squash’ Jean-Claude ‘like an ant’ in a fight.

He even threatened to laugh in the face of an interviewer who suggested Jean-Claude was a ‘tough guy’ and martial artist.

Yet in a video posted on Jean-Claude’s Instagram on April 10, he put his arm around Steven, called him his ‘good friend’ and wished him a happy birthday.
