Valerie Bertinelli has revealed who she wants to play her in a movie.
And it’s a very good choice as they two resemble each other. They also both started acting at a young age and went on to have very public love lives.
The lucky lady is Selena Gomez, the Wizards Of Waverly Place veteran who used to date Justin Bieber and is now engaged to Benny Blanco.
When Drew Barrymore asked Valerie who she would want to see step into her shoes, Bertinelli said: ‘Oh… Selena Gomez. She would be amazing.’
However, Valerie doesn’t want there to be a Van Halen biopic until after her death.
The former One Day at a Time star was married to late rock star Eddie Van Halen from 1981 until 2007 and she admitted she has told their son Wolfgang Van Halen that he can’t authorize such a project until she’s no longer around to see it.

Talking about the upcoming Beatles movies, Valerie said on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show: ‘Oh god, I hope they never do one of Van Halen. Make sure I’m dead. I told Wolfie, ‘Make sure I’m dead.’ ‘
Drew quipped: ‘Oh you know they’re gonna do one of Van Halen.’
Earlier in the conversation, Valerie discussed comparisons made between her and Yoko Ono – who many Beatles fans believed was responsible for breaking up the group – while she was married to Eddie.
She laughed: ‘Oh you didn’t know that I broke up Van Halen? As if I had the power to break up a band.
‘I wore [the comparison] proudly. Yoko is an amazing woman. She’s an artist. And she did not break up the Beatles. The Beatles had their own issues.’
And Valerie noted Van Halen ‘definitely had their own issues’ too, insisting her ex-husband – who died of cancer in 2020 – wasn’t solely responsible for any disputes.
She said: ‘And it wasn’t all Ed’s fault, okay? I’m just gonna put that out there.
‘Everybody loves to blame Ed and he can’t defend himself — nowhere near was it all Ed’s fault, he was a quiet… he just wanted to write his music and play his music.’

On Thursday Valerie posted a sexy pinup photo from 1979 when she was only 19-years-old.
The image is startling because she has on no bottoms.
The brunette wonder is in a red-and-coral plaid shirt, black underwear and ankle-strap high heels as she crouched down while flashing a smile.
The timing is excellent. It comes about a week after she suffered a humiliating blow when her ex-boyfriend Mike Goodnough slammed the sexy stalwart in a nasty Instagram post.
He attacked the beloved One Day At A Time actress for allegedly taking ‘backhanded swipes’ at him nearly six months after their breakup.

Valerie explained why she had undies on in the image.
‘Throwback 1979. From what I remember this was at the end of one of many throwaway photo sessions I would have at CBS, usually we would do the required poses they wanted and then have some fun at the end,’ explained the cookbook author.
‘A shot from this session ended up on the cover of Us with a headline about me growing up too fast. I mean, they weren’t really wrong…months later I would meet Ed, get engaged and be married within the span of eight months.’

‘That is not the case,’ Goodnough began in his lengthy caption. ‘I have never at any time posted something on social media for the purposes of communicating with someone indirectly when I know them personally and have ample ways to reach them directly.’
Doubling down, he insisted he wasn’t engaging with Bertinelli at all, stating, ‘I am not communicating with Valerie via my posts. I am not engaging with the things she posts.’
Then came the real sting as Goodnough, who dated Bertinelli for 10 months, accused her of dragging him online.
‘While I am disappointed in the array of hostile, dishonest, and uncalled-for backhanded swipes she continues to take at me, there is no war between us,’ he wrote.

He went on to accuse her of misinterpreting his words, adding, ‘When in that place, she reads all of my posts, centers herself in them, takes offense over wholly imagined slights, and then lashes out angrily with a ‘response’ to things that were neither to her or about her.’
The result, he claimed, was a false narrative of an ongoing feud.
‘Among people who follow us both, that behavior has created the impression that we are going back-and-forth. We are not.’
Despite the pointed remarks, Goodnough insisted he still cares for Bertinelli.
‘I care about Valerie,’ he wrote. ‘ I have love for her and I always will. I want her to be happy. It will bring me nothing but joy to see that she is.’

While Goodnough accuses Bertinelli of taking swipes, she had nothing but praise for him earlier this month, calling herself ‘so lucky’ to have met him and to have him in her life in a heartfelt Instagram post.
In her tribute, the actress gave a nod to his newsletter Hoarse Whisperings and showered him with compliments, describing his writing as ‘ridiculously beautiful’ and praising both his talent and character.
Alongside her glowing words, she shared a black-and-white selfie of the two cuddled up, her head resting on his shoulder, along with a screenshot of his Substack newsletter header.
Just two weeks earlier, she also said she ‘fumbled the last good man’ following her ‘two failed marriages.’
