Val Kilmer’s ex-girlfriend Ellen Barkin looks downcast in NYC two days after his death

Ellen Barkin appeared downcast while walking her little raincoat-clad pooch in her native New York City on Thursday – two days after the shocking death of her former flame, Val Kilmer.

The Emmy winner – turning 71 later this month – bundled up in a black puffer over a matching cardigan, crew-neck top, baggy pants, and white sneakers.

Ellen – who went make-up free for her spring stroll – was wearing one half of a best friend’s locket along with a pendant of a Jewish star.

Barkin is best known for her roles in Diner (1982), The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984), The Big Easy (1986), Down by Law (1986), Sea of Love (1989), Switch (1991), The Fan (1996), Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999), and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007).

Back in 1984, the Bronx-born beauty enjoyed a hot fling with the eighties heartthrob where they spent months ‘window-shopping on Rodeo Drive by day and barbecuing at night.’

‘[Ellen had] the best smile in all five boroughs,’ Val wrote in his 2020 memoir I’m Your Huckleberry.

‘I remember her wit, her sultry eyes, but mostly her laugh. And her hair. Who remembers the softness of a woman’s hair? If you ever have a chance to consensually ever so gently touch Ellen’s hair, it will be worth the look she’s gonna drop on you.’

Kilmer described Barkin as ‘one of the enchantresses who got away, no doubt due to my unmanageable preoccupations, my neglect.’

Things clearly did not end amicably with the Tony winner and the Grammy nominee, who told ELLE in 2006 that she would be the ex he ‘would fear most as a witness for the prosecution’ adding: ‘Hell hath no fury.’

Despite loving and leaving some of the most beautiful women in the world, Val confessed in his 2020 tell-all: ‘I haven’t had a girlfriend in 20 years. The truth is I am lonely part of every day.’

Kilmer passed away Tuesday, at age age 65, from pneumonia in his LA hometown following his battle with throat cancer entailing a tracheotomy, chemotherapy, and radiation.

The Top Gun: Maverick actor is survived by his two actor children – Jack, 29; and Mercedes, 33 – with his Willow leading lady Joanne Whalley, whom he divorced in 1996 after eight years of marriage.

Meawnhile, Ellen has two children – Jack, 35; and Romy, 32 – from her five-year marriage to her Siesta co-star Gabriel Byrne, which amicably ended in 1993 (their divorce finalized in 1999).

Barkin – who ended her five-year marriage to billionaire Ronald Perelman in 2006 – also reportedly dated Matt Dillon, Robert Duvall, Johnny Depp, David Arquette, Ralph Fiennes, and Sam Levinson.

The Poker Face guest star hasn’t had an acting gig since playing Lilly McDermott in Netflix’s dismally-reviewed 2023 mob comedy The Out-Laws alongside Adam DeVine, Nina Dobrev, and Pierce Brosnan.
