Russell Simmons urges fans to be kind to celebs in Bali

Russell Simmons  said that he doesn’t want fans ‘attacking’ celebrity friends who visit him in Bali years after he fled the US amid sexual misconduct allegations.

The 66-year-old Def Jam Recordings founder – who Usher visited earlier this year – ranted from his home in Indonesia in a recent Instagram Live according to Love Bitez on Tuesday.

Simmons has previously denied allegations of sexual misconduct from at least 15 women since the rise of the MeToo movement in late 2017 as moved to the Southeast Asian country the following year.

In the social media post he said: ‘Black people, did you forget that I got 10,000 black men out of jail? … And that I registered more of you to vote than probably anybody you know?

‘And I worked for Black Lives Matter and every movement that’s helped our people — all the women’s rights and even gay rights movements that I did so much work for.’

Several stars have visited Simmons in Bali including Diddy, Taraji P. Henson, MC Lyte, LisaRaye McCoy, and the aforementioned Usher.

Simmons was adamant that he does not want his celebrity pals blasted for coming to see him as he said: ‘To let them demonize me in such a way that my friends cannot visit me without you attacking them — but yet you stand next to Donald Trump, knock it off.’

He went on to claim that he is also not in hiding since the numerous allegations and said that notion was ‘stupid’ as he boldly said he will be coming to his native New York next week.

Russell explained: ‘I call the paparazzi on myself every time I’m there. I have an office. … I’m there all the time. I work out of New York sometimes, but I live here. I live here to heal people … and to give them spiritual and mental rejuvenation.

‘So just attacking people who visit me — you have no idea who all have been here — are you under some kind of tricknology? Are you lost? I’m your friend, black people, and I’ve been my whole life a supporter of all the initiatives that lift you up.’

The American entrepreneur went on to say that he has never been questioned by police or been put in front of a judge from those allegations which came to light years ago.

He said: ‘From what I can tell, Joe Biden, Bill Clinton, President Trump, all have more credible claims against them than I do if you ask Oprah [Winfrey].

‘I’ve never been charged with — who took nine lie detector tests? … Did Bill Clinton do that? Did Joe Biden do that? Did President Trump do that? Knock it off. I love you. I just don’t want my friends attacked … just leave my friends alone. Don’t attack them for visiting me. Attack friends for visiting Trump; he’s been convicted.’

Earlier this year Usher was blasted on social media as he visited Simmons weeks after his massive Super Bowl Halftime Show performance in Las Vegas.

In the clip, which was set to the Beyonce song Love On Top, Usher, 45, was seen taking part in yoga and meditation while relaxing at the Indonesian home of Simmons.

In achieving the feat of performing at the big game, Usher joined an excusive list of luminaries including the late Michael Jackson and Prince, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Madonna, Lady Gaga and Dr. Dre.

Usher was joined on the getaway by his wife Jennifer Goicoechea, who he tied the knot with in Las Vegas, following the banner performance.

In the series of clips posted, the Love in This Club performer was seen on a mat in a yoga class stretching and sweating as Simmons led the class.

He praised Usher for the loyalty he’s shown to him amid the hits his career and reputation have taken in the ensuing years.

‘When i was at the lowest point in my life i woke up and this man was sitting by my bed,’ Simmons said.

Simmons continued, ‘I had known usher since he was a kid but we really bonded because of our mutual love for self discovery and our belief in Yogic science as a direct route to realizing Gods conciousness in ourselves.’

Simmons wrapped up in saying, ‘God bless you baby bro @usher love you !!!!’

Last last year, Simmons opened up about the sexual assault allegations that have derailed his career in a new interview, claiming he’s never been violent with anyone, and that he has taken nine lie detector tests since allegations against him surfaced six years ago.

The Queens, New York native, appeared on In Depth with Graham Bensinger in December, acknowledged that he’d behaved in a ‘crude’ manner and had past been involved in ‘compromising situations’ sexually, amid allegations of sexual misconduct from at least 15 women.

‘If you had slept with as many people as I had slept with – thousands – and we’re talking about like six people,’ he said, the latter number referring to people he says he ‘spoke poorly’ to in the past.

Simmons, who spends most of his time residing in Bali, Indonesia, where the interview was filmed, said that he’s ‘never been violent to anybody,’ which is not to say he always treated his sexual partners well.

‘Of course I’ve been insensitive,’ he said, ‘but certainly never been forceful in any of my relationships, all of which I’ve had have been consensual.’

The music mogul told Bensinger that he has taken nine polygraph tests in an effort to clear his name in the wake of the accusations against him, which were part of the MeToo movement that commenced in the fall of 2017.

‘I took nine lie detector tests, people don’t know that,’ the Def Jam co-founder said. ‘Nine separate – seven from the Chairman of the Polygraph Association – one for each and serious accusation.’

Simmons said that in taking the lie detector tests, he addressed specific verbiage in allegations made against him.

‘When someone said, for instance, “I was violent” – one person said that – and I’ve never been violent. Took that,’ he said. ‘And one said I apologized. I never apologized about assaulting anyone.

‘But if two people say it, because one said it, and MeToo, and the second person said it, then I took a test for it. Three hours per test by two polygraph examiners – one that I’ve never done this to anyone and one, I’ve never done to each individual.’

Simmons said he believed in the veracity of the lie detector tests he took, saying, ‘Some people say that they’re not accurate, but it’s 94 percent accurate.

‘I did nine of them, it’s pretty clear that I don’t believe it,’ Simmons said. ‘I even asked if, “Well, what if I believe it, but it’s not true?” He said, “Your subconscious will get you.”

‘I don’t know how true that is, but that’s what was told to me by the chairman of the Polygraph Association.’

Simmons said he had the lie detector tests recorded, but ‘no one in the mainstream [media] would cover it’ amid ‘a narrative’ that ‘we don’t wanna go backwards, we wanna believe women.’

Simmons said that while he feels ‘women and celebrities maybe in some cases are a little different,’ he emphasized that ‘we don’t wanna not believe women, we have to believe women.

‘We have to give them the benefit of the doubt, but we can’t demonize people without proof either.’

He added of his past conduct: ‘I think that the culture and the climate was different, and the way people interacted was different. I think to judge 40 years ago as if it was today, we get in trouble.

‘We have to accept where we were and move on and be somewhere else in the future if we don’t like where we were. And I think we’re doing that now. And I think that’s the good that comes with MeToo.’

Usher, shown in March in Los Angeles, took to Instagram on Thursday to reveal why he was forced to postpone concerts

Usher earlier this week posted a heartfelt message on Instagram about pulling the plug on the first show for his Past Present Future tour

He wrote that he needed to ‘give my body time to rest and heal,’ without revealing the specific nature of his ailment.

‘For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans,’ he began.

‘I have every intention of doing that for this tour as well which is why I have to postpone tonight’s show and reschedule it for a later date to give my body a second to rest and heal.’

He continued, ‘You’re still going to get a bit of the past, some of the present and a unique look into the future on the rescheduled date but you’ll also be getting 100% of me.

‘The last thing I want to ever do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly waiting for this tour to start. However, I wouldn’t be the entertainer that I am if I can’t physically give you my best.’

Usher mentioned that attendees will receive more information on tickets and the rescheduled tour date soon.

‘I can’t wait to celebrate this legacy with you,’ he concluded.

He later accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award on stage and gave a speech –  which was choppy due to what appeared to be the censoring of profanity.

Usher said that ‘getting here has definitely not been easy, but it has been worth it.’

‘When I first started, I had a different idea about what I thought life was going to be. I started off as an artist in a group in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and my name was Cha Cha,’ he said.

He referenced his late father Usher Raymond III in his speech, saying, ‘I really was searching for some identity and I was doing that specifically because I was trying to make sense of this name are the man gave me but didn’t stick around because he didn’t love me.

‘Or at least that was my perception of it because I had to live long enough in order to understand that you have to have a forgiving heart in order to understand the true pitfalls and hardships of a Black man in America.

‘And my father, he was a product of that. He made a lot of decisions. He made a lot of choices. The one that probably hurt and helped me at the same time was to stay away.’

The feted artist continued: ‘That’s part of the reason why I say this is the year of the father were all the fathers have got to stand up for their sons and daughters and be the man that they need to be for them.’

In his speech, Usher stressed forgiveness as a critical trait for people to possess, saying, ‘You’ve got to be willing to forgive – got to be willing to be open.’

‘I’m telling you, you’re standing before a man who had to forgive a man who never showed up ever.’

He added, ‘And look what I made with it. Look what I was able to usher in in. That’s what’s real. That’s what makes us human. That’s what makes us men and women…I thank you all.’

The star was also named the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, besting fellow nominees including Brent Faiyaz, Bryson Tiller, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Drake, Fridayy and October London.

Usher said in his acceptance speech that he was ‘really happy to be able to be in this category.’

‘Obviously tonight is a celebration of many things being able to be recognized for this life achievement award that’s coming,’ Usher said. ‘I’m really happy to still be a part of the fight, you know what I’m saying.’

In his speech, Usher, who is father to four children, used his platform to emphasize the importance of fatherhood.

‘To fathers tonight at home or in this audience, I would like you to stand up,’ Usher said. ‘Far too often, we get to this moment on we are able to say to our mothers, “Look mom, I made it.” We don’t get chance to say enough “Dad, I did it.”

‘So this one is for all the men out there being generals to their sons and motivation for our future Black leaders, young men. Thank you guys so much for this honor.’

Tia Mowry dazzles at BET Awards 2024

Tia Mowry turned heads in a stunning ensemble as she made an appearance at the star-studded, 24th Annual BET Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The Sister, Sister actress, 45 – whose sibling Tamera Mowry recently reunited with their TV mom Jackée Harry in Beverly Hills – joined other celebrities on the red carpet, such as Remy Ma and Akon.

The festivities were hosted by Taraji P. Henson and took place inside the Peacock Theater in the heart of L.A.

Mowry wowed in a sleeveless, semi-sheer gown that contained black, floral details that were embroidered on nude-colored fabric.

She slipped into a pair of closed-toed, black heels to coincide with the color scheme of the look, and at one point, turned away from the camera to show off the backless portion of the dress.

Tia accessorized the glamorous outfit with a pair of dangly, silver earrings as well as dainty bracelets on each of her wrists and a few flashy rings.

Her locks were parted to the side, and pulled back into a low up do, preventing any loose strands from falling onto her face.

The star’s makeup was glammed up for the event, and comprised of a layer of mascara to her lashes as well as a smoky shadow around her eyes.

A warm blush was added to better accentuate her cheekbones, while a nude-colored, satin tint was worn on her lips for a finishing touch.

Mowry was seen striking a variety of poses as she arrived to the main venue, and flashed a cheerful smile while flaunting her look.

The BET Awards are notably dubbed as ‘Cultures Biggest Night’ – and Usher is slated to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award during the ceremony.

Drake led with the most nominations – garnering a total of seven nods – while rapper Nicki Minaj trailed close behind with six.

Other celebrities also graced the red carpet, including Remy Ma, who left little to the imagination in a see-through, bedazzled minidress.

Fans go wild over rare Craig David and Usher duet

Never-before-seen footage of Craig David and Usher collaborating has resurfaced online, leaving fans begging for more.

The clip, which is just over a minute long, was posted to the 7 Days singer’s official TikTok page last month, sending R&B fanatics into a frenzy.

Craig, now 43, wrote in the caption: ‘Some unseen footage to brighten your Thursday. Wow this takes me back. Such a vibe freestyling with my guy @Usher Raymond. Reliving this moment.’

In the rare footage, the pair were in a recording studio in their younger years, freestyling and laughing together.

They begin by singing the lyrics to Usher’s hit song, You Make Me Wanna, before improvising, stealing iconic lines from their own singles.

Craig raps the words to 7 Days: ‘ On my way to see my friends who lived a couple of blocks away from me / As I walked through the subway it must have been about quarter past three / In front of me stood a beautiful honey with a beautiful body.

‘She asked me for the time / I said it’d cost her name, a six-digit number and a date with me tomorrow at nine.’

Usher, now 45, then jumps in with: ‘First of all, I know these so-called players wouldn’t tell you this.’

The back and forth continues with Craig rapping: ‘Craig David rappin’ here for Paris from the UK scene / Craig David bounce from the front to the back / Do you love it like this and love it like that.’

At the end of the short clip, the pair grin at each other and cement the collaboration with a high five and handshake.

Since Craig shared the old clip online, fans have questioned why the artists never released an official collaboration.

Viewers wrote in the TikTok comments: ‘How has this never been released?’

‘Why was this not an official thing!? I would have lost my mind back then with a Craig David / Usher collab! Can we still get it?’

The former completed his concert series as part of his Las Vegas residency in 2023, and the latter has announced a brand new arena tour for February 2025.

Craig revealed in April that his Commitment UK arena tour will be going ahead with special guest Lemar – tickets went on sale in May.

He said: ‘I can’t wait to bring my band back to the UK for my 2025 Commitment arena tour!

‘Looking forward to having a party and mixing up the classics and maybe something new…’

Since bursting onto the scene with his 2000 album Born To Do It, Craig has remained at the helm of his own unique, authentically British sound.

He first emerged onto the UK garage scene at the end of 1999 with hit song Re-Rewind, and has scored 25 UK top 40 singles, nine UK top 40 albums, and amassed over 5 billion streams worldwide since.

Award-wise Craig has received 14 Brit Award nominations, two Grammy nominations, four MOBO awards, three Ivor Novellos honouring his songwriting, and most recently an MBE for his services to music.

Feisty Frenchie Kennedy Dominates Red Carpet at Cannes

With its endless ovations and increasingly unwatchable movies, Cannes may be in the can – but one woman has truly opened a can of worms with her whoop-ass treatment of whining celebs.

Footage of a lady-thug security guard manhandling famous femmes at the oh-so-frilly French Riviera film festival has gone more viral than rotten escargot.

It all started when the butch baddie tried to hurry formerly famed singer Kelly Rowland, who was soaking up the glow of her gorgeosity on the iconic red stairs for a beat too long.

Rowdy Rowland stuck her fierce finger in the bouncer’s grill and even later suggested the incident was… racist! (What’s French for YAWN?)

But it seems this IDGAF usher didn’t discriminate.

Feisty Frenchie Kennedy Dominates Red Carpet at Cannes

It all started when the butch baddie tried to hurry formerly famed singer Kelly Rowland, who was soaking up the glow of her gorgeosity on the iconic red stairs for a beat too long.

There’s also video of her moving along K-pop star Yoona, bear-hugging some giraffe-legged Ukrainian model to the floor, and nearly throwing blows with Dominican actress Massiel Taveres, who repeatedly tried to unfurl her ridiculous 20-foot train emblazoned with the face of Our Lord and Savior.

No, not Saint Salma of Hayek.

Predictably, social media is ablaze with aghast snowflakes demanding this feisty Frenchie be banned from future festivals.

To which I say: Don’t get your La Perla panties in a bunch.

First: It’s quite clear to me that this woman was simply doing her job – would she not otherwise have been fired after the first Rowland row?

Second: Who am I to tell a Frenchman to stop when they’re actually awake and working!

The truth is, Cannes director Thierry Fremaux has had it up to his yeux with camera-hungry coquettes.

In 2018 he banned stars from taking ‘grotesque’ selfies. Earlier this year he decried how hyper-political red-carpet posturing was detracting from the cinematic art on display.

(Looking at you Cate Blanchett, who pro-Gaza gown with a Palestinian flag feature, and Bella Hadid, who went Hamas-chic in dress made from keffiyehs.)

This isn’t the Moulin Rouge at happy hour. This is cinema, darling!

Fremaux will no doubt have watched on in horreur as once classy events like the Met Gala descended into preening pose-fests, attracting only the most desperate of D-listers.

So what else is a weary frog to do?

My guess is that Fremaux instructed his beauty bruisers to play defense against the legion of foreign egoists descending on his fine town – and good for him.

And as for the can-do red-carpet mistress of Cannes, she wins a standing ovation from me. Next year, she should suplex these gruesome gals into the Riviera bay!

The truth is, Cannes director Thierry Fremaux has had it up to his yeux with camera-hungry coquettes. Earlier this year he decried how hyper-political red-carpet posturing was detracting from the cinematic art on display. (Pictured: Cate Blanchett last week).

    Biden’s ‘shower’ shame

If you haven’t already, you must immediately read my esteemed colleague Maureen Callahan’s recent column on Ashley Biden’s diary.

For even though our First Daughter has admitted in a court filing that the missive – stolen and leaked online – is indeed real, so too is the media blackout on this story.

Ashley heartbreakingly details fears she was ‘molested’, as well as ‘traumas’ she recalls from her childhood – including, explosively, ‘showers with [her] dad’ that were ‘probably not appropriate’.

If this private journal belonged to one Ivanka Trump and described a co-shower with daddy Donald, the outcry would’ve been deafening and deserved.

Shame on the silent White House and Sniffy Joe’s neutered media lackies.

    …but Hunter’s still shameless

If the Biden bunch weren’t already slimy enough, now we learn how Hunter arranged a meeting between his dad, his uncle and his dodgy Chinese business partners to coincide with a 2017 visit to New York City for a memorial commemorating the horrific Sandy Hook slaughter.

Never let a tragedy go to waste, huh, Cracky?

These bribe-happy Commies are the same oil bosses with whom Hunter cobbled together a $10m-a-year deal just months earlier. Good to see Bidenomics benefiting someone, I guess!

    Blame it on Kim K

North West’s nepo-baby turn as young Simba in The Lion King’s 30th anniversary concert – at a little-known venue called the Hollywood freakin’ Bowl – has sent fans into feline frenzy.

Kimye’s spawn is hardly the next Nancy Sinatra. But it’s not as if the tonally challenged 10-year-old snatched the plum spot from a more talented, less fortunate kid with her own two paws.

Blame her mercenary, overexposed parents who won’t cease from using their children as extensions of their grotesque selves.

    Swift cash grab

The crimson-mouthed Mean Girl won’t be silenced.

Last week, Taylor Swift released not one but three new ‘limited editions’ of her latest album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.

The blatant cash grab took Swift to a total of more than 20 iterations of this most average of records.

    Why so greedy, Goldilocks?

Fans say there’s bad blood brewing between Swift and Billie Eilish, whose brilliant new album ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’ threatens to leave ‘TTPD’ in the Kansas City dust.

Billie recently slammed artists who perform three-hour shows as ‘literally psychotic’ – ahem – and criticized endless re-releases of physical albums as ‘wasteful’ – ahem, ahem.

    Crown Jewels

The Crown actor Charles Dance, 77, was papped sunning his jewels at the Spanish nudist hotspot of Formentera.

I do hope the pasty geezer applied sunscreen to all his spotted bits; a mister would hate to blister in his most precious regions!

Perhaps Dance – who was joined in the buff by his much younger girlfriend Alessandra Masi – delights in leaving very little to the imagination.

In his defense, that Spanish water can get awfully cold at this time of year.

The Crown's Charles Dance, 77, left little to the imagination as he and girlfriend....

    Feral father

Is there anything more annoying than an influencer?

Yes, an Elon Musk fanboy ‘dadfluencer’ who smacks his babies around for likes.

Malcolm Collins and his dumpy wife Simone are pregnant with their fourth but hope to have seven kids in their pursuit of ‘pronatalism’ (the belief that more and more brats are the solution to our earthly problems).

Malcolm slapped his 2-year-old across the face in front of a reporter last week before attempting to explain his abuse away saying he and his equally hit-happy wife learned the behavior from observing how tigers treat their cubs in the wild.

Do this pair also pee in public and sink their teeth into live mammals?

There has been a push to take Malcolm and Simone’s brood away from them, and I can understand why.

Colleagues of Usher defend her against accusations of racism in Cannes altercation, explain she was simply performing her duties

Colleagues of a red carpet usher accused of disrepecting Kelly Rowland in Cannes have defended the Frenchwoman, saying: ‘She was only doing her job’.

Kelly, the 43-year-old American singer, expressed shock and anger at her treatment during the ongoing Film Festival in the French Riviera resort.

Kelly was attending the premiere of the French film Marcello Mio, in a red flowing gown, when she appeared to engage in a verbal dispute with a member of security.

Pointing towards racism, she suggested that ‘there were other women who attended that carpet, who did not quite look like me, and they didn’t get scolded or pushed off or told to get off.’

But other security personnel working at the showbiz event – one of the most policed in Europe – said the unidentified usher acted appropriately.

Kelly, the 43-year-old American singer, expressed shock and anger at her treatment during the ongoing Film Festival in the French Riviera resort

‘She was an usher working under a lot of pressure to keep people on the carpet moving, so as to stop crowds building up,’ said a Festival staff veteran, who has been working in the resort every May for 20 years.

‘There was no pushing or shoving, or scolding,’ he said. ‘Security and safety are the priorities, along with keeping to strict timetables set according to contracts – even the celebrities have to stick to the rules.

‘Lots of ushers are involved, and they always act professionally and with politeness.

‘In this case, the usher was certainly only doing her job – she didn’t do anything wrong.’

The usher has not been publicly identified, but she is known to be a local Frenchwoman on a short term contract with the week-long Festival.

The source added: ‘Suggestions of racism are just ridiculous – visitors, and indeed staff at Cannes come from all kinds of backgrounds, and none are discriminated against.’

Another Cannes staffer who has studied the video of Tuesday’s incident said Ms Rowland may have ‘mistakely thought the usher stepped on her dress’.

In fact, this was not the case, and the usher did not physically touch Ms Rowland, or her clothes, at all.

Pointing towards racism, Kelly suggested that ‘there were other women who attended that carpet, who did not quite look like me, and they didn’t get scolded or pushed off or told to get off.’

‘That’s as clear as day – you just have to look at the video,’ said the staff member. ‘I think this might well have been just a misunderstanding.’

Festival officials refused to discuss security matters, but indicated that the usher was still on duty at the event, which ends on Saturday, and there was no inquiry or attempt to discipline anybody.

This year’s Festival – the 77th edition – comes at a time when security in France is at its highest possible level.

There have been threats by terrorist groups to target stars, and wars in Ukraine and the Middle East have also heightened tensions in the run up to global events, including the Paris Olympics in July, and 80th anniversary of D-Day in June.

Thousands of extra police and gendarmes are on duty around Cannes, while six private security firms are helping to secure the Festival principal site, along the world famous Croissette promenade.

All are instructed to keep people moving, including along the red carpet, so that multi-million dollar TV, film and advertising schedules remain on schedule.

It comes after Kelly broke her silence on the incident and claimed there were other women who did not look like her that were treated differently and insisted she was just standing her ground.

‘The woman knows what happened. I know what happened,’ she said. ‘And, I have a boundary. And I stand by those boundaries and that is it.’

‘There were other women who attended that carpet, who did not quite look like me, and they didn’t get scolded or pushed off or told to get off.’

The female security guard held up her arm to guide her into the venue and Kelly appeared furious.

Kelly held up her finger to admonish the woman in front of the crowd in attendance.

The security guard appeared to frantically respond to Kelly, who even turned back to continue her tirade as she made her way up the rest of the steps.

A lip-reading expert revealed what Kelly really said during the heated interaction with the French woman.

Jacqui Press told MailOnline that after the security guard appeared to step on her dress, she apologised and Kelly said: ‘It’s OK.’

However, the security guard then said something else, causing Kelly’s change in mood, as she responded: ‘Don’t talk to me like that.’

As the security guard continued to usher her up the stairs, Kelly turned around and repeated the phrase several times.

A male security guard then came down to ask what was being said as the lady was using her hands to move Kelly along.

Kelly finally turned around on the top step and added: ‘You still don’t talk to me like that!’

It was claimed that the tiff came about because staff members were ‘being aggressive’ and Kelly had ‘had it’ with them.

‘The people who are assigned to helping stars walk the red carpet were being aggressive and Kelly was trying to ignore it,’ an insider told DailyMail.com.

‘By the time she got to the last woman she had had it because she scolded Kelly and told her to move when she was trying to wave to fans and help the paparazzi get their shot,’ they added.

The source also revealed: ‘She doesn’t care if she comes across like a diva if she knows that she is advocating for herself. She isn’t fake and wanted to set a clear boundary.’

It comes just weeks after Kelly walked out of an appearance on the Today show in February, though the reason for this has been disputed.

Kelly appeared furious during the exchange with a member of the security at the festival

Kelly appeared furious during the exchange with a member of the security at the festival

It had been claimed that Kelly skipped out on co-hosting the rest of the Today show alongside anchor Hoda Kotb because she was dissatisfied with her dressing room, forcing Rita Ora to step in at the last minute.

However sources have since claimed that Kelly had actually walked off the show due to ‘disrespect’ shown to her by Hoda’s co-host Savannah Guthrie who ‘aggressively’ questioned her about Beyoncé – rather than ask the singer about what she was there to promote – her new film Mea Culpa.

The dressing room excuse was also even seemingly confirmed by Hoda herself, when she offered Rowland to share her dressing next time she comes on the show.

However, it appears Hoda’s comments stirred the pot even further, as an insider told The Wrap that Kelly left after she ‘felt disrespected’ after Guthrie asked her a series of questions about her friend and former bandmate Beyoncé.

‘Kelly was offended that Savannah repeatedly and aggressively asked her about Beyoncé,’ the insider told the outlet.

‘Kelly was upset about Savannah’s aggressive questioning about Beyoncé. She and her team were not happy and felt disrespected.’

A source told TMZ soon after, however, that Kelly was not aggressively asked about Beyonce, and adamantly denied The Wrap’s claims.

The Wrap insider said that the dressing room accommodations had nothing to do with Rowland’s exit.

‘The story was spun that Kelly didn’t like her dressing room, but she has been on the Today show numerous times, she and her team know the dressing room set up,’ the insider said.

‘That would not come as a surprise at all.’

Jackson, 57, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express how ‘heartbroken’ she was and acknowledged that many fans ‘traveled far and wide’ in order to catch her set.

She also included three self-portraits of herself in full glam makeup and hair, which was seemingly the look she planned to wear on stage Saturday.

‘We are heartbroken we won’t be able to see you tonight at Lovers & Friends due to the possibility of dangerous winds,’ the hitmaker began.

‘We know that many of you traveled far and wide to be here. The show would have also marked our last before we shift gears to the summer leg of the tour.

‘We trust in God’s plan and find light in knowing we’ll be together again soon. We love you and are so grateful for you,’ Jackson concluded.

Less than 24 hours ahead of the event, organizers for the Lovers & Friends Festival announced that it had been ‘canceled’ on social media.

In a festival update, uploaded to Instagram on Friday, one post read: ‘Lovers & Friends Festival organizers have been monitoring the weather for several days and proactively preparing for a windy Saturday.’

‘However, the National Weather Service has now issued a High Wind Warning, including dangerous 30-35 mph sustained winds with gusts potentially more than 60 mph,’ they wrote as the reason for the last minute cancellation.

Janet Jackson and Alicia Keys were among the dozens of artist forced to cancel their appearance at Saturday’s Lovers and Friends Festival in Las Vegas. The National Weather service forecast high winds, which created a risk of injury for artists and guests.

Gal added: ‘Welcome to the house of girls,’ before giving a tip of the hat to her movie producer husband: ‘daddy is pretty cool too.’

Janet was last seen at the Thom Browne runway show during New York Fashion Week in February.

She donned a fitted jumpsuit that was secured with buttons at the front to appear as a blazer.  She added a white button up underneath that was fastened around the collar as well as a black tie.

While talking to Allure back in 2022, Janet opened up about her evolving style growing up and while also working in the entertainment industry.

‘I was never a girly girl. I was always a tomboy. So it was always about pants, suits, even as an early teenager,’ she expressed to the outlet.

‘I remember when my brothers got their star on the Walk of Fame and other awards they got, and I look back on pictures and I always had on a suit with a tie, a bow tie, or suspenders.’

The star continued, ‘Always loving black and never wanting to expose any part of my body, I felt most comfortable to cover it up to here.’

In later years, she began to take more risks, such as posing topless for her 1993 album titled Janet. During that time period, she said it was her, ’embracing me and trying to learn to love me for me, my body, all of that.’

‘Trying to feel comfortable in embracing that. Throwing myself in the lion’s den. Just going for it, wanting to do something different.’

‘It took a lot of work, a lot of work. It was something very tough, very difficult. But I’m glad I walked through it. I’m really glad I got in. It was a way of accepting and loving, accepting yourself and your body,’ Janet explained.
