A US band have turned to their fans to raise money for medical expenses after a member suffered a near-fatal accident.
Indie-pop band The Brother Brothers, comprising of identical twins David and Adam Moss, scrapped the remaining dates of their Aussie tour earlier this month and have now started a Go Fund Me page.
On Thursday, they shared a gallery of photos of an unwell David lying in bed in an Australian hospital and captioned it with some heartbreaking words.
‘We know a lot of you have been wondering how we’re doing after David’s visit to the Australian hospital system, and we know many of you were wondering how you could help,’ they began.
‘We have a full explanation of events and diagnoses in the link. It feels weird to be here posting this, but if you don’t have community to lean on, what do you have.
‘Love you all dearly and can’t thank you enough for all the emotional support you’ve given.’

They added David’s medical team had diagnosed his condition and the road to recovery would be very costly, after he passed out in the ocean earlier this month and nearly drowned.
‘Following a helicopter rescue, three weeks in a hospital bed, countless tests, scans and doctors’ visits, we now know there is a large benign cyst in David’s brain and two blood clots in his lungs,’ they wrote.
‘Although it is important we celebrate his recovery, we are still looking at a long road of recovery and treatment that involves loss of touring income, as well as the many debts accrued while here in Australia seeking the help we needed.’
Fortunately, the appeal was an enormous success and reached its target of over $50,000 in less than a day.
Many of their fans took to the comment section to offer their well wishes.
‘Fantastic musician even better person – the world needs you bud,’ one person wrote and a second added: ‘We’re here for you.’
Earlier this month, the folk duo cancelled the remaining dates of their Australian tour, after David suffered a near-fatal accident.
The indie-pop band shared a statement to social media confirming the tour cancellation.

‘We’re sorry to announce we need to cancel the remaining dates here in Australia. What we can tell you at this point is that David passed out in the water and nearly drowned,’ they began.
The siblings, who have been performing since 2016, were booked to play at the Port Fairy Folk Festival in regional Victoria, as well as the Yackandandah Music Festival and the Blue Mountains Music Festival across March.
They added their focus was now on David’s health and were quick to praise the top-notch Australian health care system.
‘We’ll update you when we know more, which will hopefully be quite soon… once he’s transferred from Coffs Harbour to Newcastle,’ they wrote.
‘I’ll also note the Australian health care system is a shining beacon to be admired and striven toward. We can’t thank them enough for all their loving care and excellence in their fields so far.’
