The actress, 61, kicked off her successful on-screen career in the ’80s when she starred as Jane Wilson on the NBC soap opera Santa Barbara.
Earning a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Soap Opera Digest Awards for her debut role, she went on to carve out a very successful television career.
In 1991, she quickly gained a name for herself as Heddy Newman on the Fox sitcom Herman’s Head, which had a cult following, before landing a role in Friends.

In one shock moment, she revealed she almost didn’t get the part of Carol because the casting team wanted to offer her the lead role of Rachel Green.
However, despite moving into the testing phase of auditioning for the part of Rachel, Jane was turned down because she was pregnant with her first child Kai Fink.
Co-host Kylie Gillies asked: ‘Is it true you were picked to play the part of Rachel Green, but because you were pregnant it ultimately went to Jennifer Aniston?’

Jane said: ‘It’s actually that I had left the room from auditioning for Rachel and I got the phone call from my manager saying, “They love you. They want you.”
‘So, I said, “Did you tell them that I was pregnant?” And he said, “No, just go onto the test, it will be fine.”
‘That’s how it went. So once they did tell them I was pregnant, they said, “Oh, that’s not going to work out.”‘
Thankfully, she was offered the role of Carol within days of giving birth to her son Kai, who featured as Ross’ infant son Ben on the show alongside his mother.
