The highly anticipated sequel to the surprise horror hit Five Nights At Freddy’s finally has a release date.
Universal Pictures unveiled a slate of release dates for its collaboration with Blumhouse Productions, which primarily specializes in modestly budgeted horror films.
The studios announced on Thursday that Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 will be hitting theaters on December 5, 2025.
The Josh Hutcherson–starring film proved to be an unexpected smash success when it grossed a staggering $297 million against a $20 million budget, despite being released simultaneously in theaters and on the Peacock streaming service.
Universal also revealed that two other horror hits from recent years, M3GAN and The Black Phone, were getting their sequels pushed back on its calendar.

Five Nights At Freddy’s stars Hutcherson as the new night watchman of a since-abandoned kids-themed pizzeria featuring eerie animatronic performers inspired by Chuck E. Cheese.
He soon learns that the pizzeria was abandoned after multiple children were murdered their in the 1980s, and they now posses the animatronics, who are eager for the younger sister he cares for to join them.
Despite being available at home, fans flocked to see the horror thriller in theaters, helping it to far exceed expectations.
Part of its success may have been due to the film being based on a video game series of the same name.
There aren’t any details about the cast for the sequel, but Universal did release a new tagline for the film: ‘Anyone can survive five nights. This time, there will be no second chances.’
For M3GAN 2.0, the sequel to the hit horror film about an AI-powered life-like doll who develops an attachment to a young girl strong enough to make her murder anyone who comes between them.
The new film was originally scheduled to be released on May 16, 2025, but it has not been shifted back a little over a month to June 27, 2025.
The original M3GAN grossed an impressive $181 million against a $12 million budget.
Few details were offered about M3GAN 2.0, but Allison Williams and Violet McGraw will return as the dolls creator and the girl she bonds with, respectively.
The Black Phone was a somewhat more modest hit based on the short story of the same name by popular horror writer Joe Hill — a son of Stephen King.
The Scott Dickerson–directed film starred Ethan Hawke as a kidnapper and serial child murder who keeps his victims in a dingy basement before dispatching of them.
The film grossed $161 million against a budget of just $16 to 18 million.
Universal has now pushed The Black Phone 2 from June 27, 2025, to October 17, 2025.
Hawke and the other original cast members Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies and Miguel Mora will all be returning for the sequel.

In addition to the high-profile sequels, the studio also announced release dates for original Blumhouse films.
The Woman In The Yard will open on March 28, 2025, and Blumhouse’s collaboration with Platinum Dunes, the thriller Drop,
will open on March 28 of next year, followed quickly by Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse’s thriller Drop, which comes out on April 22, 2025.
