How about this for a comeback? Twiggy is returning to pop music, 48 years after her self-titled debut album was released.
I can disclose that the celebrated former model, 74, who is now Dame Lesley Lawson, has teamed up with former Rolling Stones bass guitarist Bill Wyman, 87.
Featuring piano, bass, guitar and her vocals, their album is inspired by traditional music from the 1930s to 1950s.
‘We have not announced it yet, but I have been working with Bill Wyman,’ she confirms.
‘Covid came along and we had to Skype for about two or three years. Bill kept sending me songs from that period, and I love that.

Speaking on her podcast, Tea With Twiggy, she described her musical adventure as ‘scary and exciting,’ before teasing that ‘hopefully’ the album will come out soon
‘My first film, The Boy Friend, was all 1920s music. Bill narrowed it down and I kept picking music from [American musicians] Mary Ford and Les Paul.’
Speaking on her podcast, Tea With Twiggy, she adds of her musical adventure: ‘It is scary and exciting. Hopefully the album will come out soon.’
Twiggy, an icon of the Swinging Sixties, appeared on the sleeve of the 1973 David Bowie album Pin Ups. ‘I just feel thrilled that I got to meet Bowie,’ she has said.
‘That photo was early 1970s and he was huge at that point. English Vogue had this idea of putting me and him on the cover of Vogue and we thought it was a brilliant idea.
‘He was recording in Paris and I flew there, and we did the picture. The editor of Vogue, in their great wisdom, said, ‘I can’t put a man on the cover.’
‘We said, ‘Why not? You are insane.’ But they would not budge. So David said, ‘While they are faffing about, I will put it on the album cover.’ ‘
