Nick Knowles has said TV bosses have refused to insure his daredevil escapes after brushes with death on his documentaries.
The TV presenter, 61, best known for hosting DIY: SOS, told how he pays for his own insurance which includes emergency rescue by helicopter.
Nick has previously risked it all getting stuck in a crevice in the Grand Canyon, climbing towers and flying gyrocptors through stormy weather.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: ”You can’t get insurance because a lot of the programming I’m doing, they are such big adventures.
‘I actually now pay an enormous amount to ensure I have helicopter extraction cover instead.

Despite the dangerous nature of his adventures, Nick insisted he wouldn’t have it any other way.
He said: ‘They’ve all been dangerous. Climbing out on 200ft towers, swimming in the Arctic circle, jumping in the ice — I love all that stuff. It makes you feel alive.’
The star added that his shoulders, back, knees and neck are all ‘knackered’ because of past accidents but he considers them all badges of honour.
On one of his recent trips, Nick met a shaman in Mongolia who blowtorched a knife until it was white hot.
The shaman then told Nick he had to lick the sword to ‘get rid of bad spirits’ which he did, despite worrying the burn could leave him unable to speak.
It comes shortly after Nick’s fiancée Katie Dadzie was forced to hit back after she was shamed by trolls for stripping down to her lingerie to advertise her brand.
One Instagram user said: ‘U should respect ur man and not show all off on social media tbh.’
‘It’s not nice for him to know that everyone is looking at u …should only be for him…’

Katie hit back, commenting: ‘Sod that!’ before adding: ‘He’s a ok with it, but thanks anyway.’
The commenter then added: ‘I am not being a hater or anything. Just makes me sad that women still do this when they have a lovely man at home… It’s just a shame. You seem lovely and don’t need to do this really.’
But Katie shot back: ‘I have kids to feed and rent to pay, on my own – if advertising lingerie for my company helps that, then it’s about us not anyone else.
‘It’s probably more of a shame that you think having a partner means you have to be ashamed of yourself and hide away.’
