Contostavlos has detailed her recent 'intense' seven day ayahuasca retreat in Peru where taking the psychedelic drug left her 'crying for hours' and 'constantly throwing up'.
The N-Dubz singer, 37, jetted to South America for the stay where she was involved in three ayahuasca ceremonies where you take the potent, psychoactive brew while in the care of doctors and shamans.
Ayahuasca, also known as yage, is a blend of two plants - the ayahuasca vine and a shrub called chacruna, which contains the hallucinogenic drug (DMT).
It's illegal in the UK, the US and many other countries.
Tulisa took to Instagram to share clips from her stay including the ceremony area as she slammed those who 'just see the substance as a drug'.
The star also described how she had to prepare for weeks before going out there in terms of her diet and meditation.

She penned in her post: 'So guys… I spent 7 nights at @etnikas.ayahuasca.retreats & had 3 ayahuasca ceremonies, each a different experience & more work than expected. I understand why the plant & process are so sacred. Those who see it as just a 'drug' need more research.
'I witnessed two individuals who didn't prepare, it didn't go well. I personally prepared by being T-total/ total abstinence/ meditation/diet/ 3 months prior. Though it is only a two week period prior required but I wanted to get the most out of it.

'The main message I received was the ability to see my own light & purpose, mostly through the eyes of those I love & that love me.
'It was super emosh. I spent hours crying in the first ceremony. I connected with loved ones who've passed, including Uncle B, & the higher consciousness of those currently in my life, & those with unresolved conflict, past lives/soul contracts, those yet to enter my future, as well as possible glimpses of my future.
'How much truth was in that will be revealed in time. I felt the higher consciousness (God) that we're all part of. My downloads were very intense.
'Throughout the group experiences varied, but no one who prepared seemed to regret it. I was exhausted after the 1st, I felt like I'd gone through a kind of spiritual labour for 6 hours.
'I asked for the death of my ego, only to realize my ego was my survival protection due to a deep fear of being misunderstood. & I emerged even more assured & empowered on my path.
'The second ceremony was heavy due to exhaustion. So I asked to be pulled out. The doctors & shamans @etnikas.ayahuasca.retreats handled it very well. Their medical rep is one of the reasons I chose them.

'In the third ceremony, I purged for about six hours, consistently throwing up releasing old trauma & anxiety. I'd say I feel like a new woman, but I more so understand & remember who I am. I feel more balanced, grounded, calm, self assured & powerful.

'This intense & sacred experience isn't for the faint hearted, but if you're ready for growth, it's worth researching. Lots of love, Tula 2.0. P.s still cigarette free.'
Just last month Tulisa revealed her plans to travel to Peru to take the psychedelic drug ayahuasca.

She shared a picture of herself reading a book called The Ayahuasca Test Pilots Handbook: The Essential Guide to Ayahuasca Journeying.
It claims to provide a practical guide to ayahuasca use, aiding seekers in making right and safe decisions about where to go, who to drink with, and what to expect.
Tulisa wrote a caption alongside her post which read: 'Just focusing on creating joy, keeping my nervous system regulated & being present this week.
'Keeping my mind as clear as possible & trying to stay in the moment.
'Meditation is doing wonders. Only been a month of finally getting into a routine with it & doing it consistently & I can truly say it’s also really helped my sleep.
'Defo a new & essential part of my routine moving forward for my long term inner peace & happiness mission.'

It comes after last month Tulisa and (real name Costadinos Contostavlos) unfollowed each other on social media.
The pair, who first rose to fame with N-Dubz, have a history of public disputes and reconciliations that have kept fans guessing over the years.
According to The Sun, the latest move signals that the former collaborators are no longer in contact online and are believed to be off speaking terms once again.
The Daily Mail reached out to their representatives for comment.
Months ago, Tulisa had promised that the iconic group would make a comeback soon, but after this latest fallout, that now seems increasingly unlikely.
Taking to Instagram last month, she wrote: 'This week has been chaotic . . . I'm learning to adapt, viewing it as a challenge/opportunity for growth.

'I'm exhausted and there's a lot happening outside/around me that's out of my control, but I'm finding meaning in the mayhem, lessons in the lows, growth through the grit.'
She added: 'I've still laughed, smiled, felt joy and so grateful for all the love surrounding me, and within.
'I'm happy, letting go, adapting and thriving in chaos. This week has been perfectly imperfect.'
Over that weekend, she added: 'Last week's chaos has calmed. This week has been reflective.
'I've been doing a lot of inner work and taking the time to process it all, putting together the pieces and puzzles.'
Tulisa previously revealed that originally her cousin Dappy had set out wanting to be a solo star but her Uncle B said they should be in a group, bringing in herself and their friend Frazer.
