Celebrity Big Brother fans left fuming after ‘annoying’ Chesney Hawkes shushes Ella Rae Wise ‘like a school teacher’ just minutes after entering the house: ‘Who does he think he is?’

Celebrity Big Brother fans were left fuming by ‘annoying’ Chesney Hawkes as the iconic reality show returned to ITV2 on Monday evening.

The 90s singer, 53, entered the star-studded house alongside the likes of Trisha Goddard, 67, Patsy Palmer, 52, and Hollywood actor Mickey Rourke, 72.

However TOWIE’s Ella Rae Wise, 24, was the one that seemingly rubbed Chesney up the wrong way as he continually shushed her ‘like a school teacher’.

As the celebs all gathered and got to know each other, The One and Only put his finger to his lips as he encouraged Ella to be quiet.

Taking to X fans fumed: ‘Not Chesney shushing her’: ‘Chesney Shhing that girl, goes he think he’s her teacher?’: ‘Chesney shushing her… are you a school teacher or what’: Did Chesney just shush everyone?! Hate him already’.

‘Chesney stop shushing everyone like a teacher’: ‘CHESNEY STOP SHUSHING PEOPLE I SWEAR’:  ‘Chesney keeps telling people to shush with his finger to his lips, like they’re children at school. think that’ll pee people off’.

Earlier in the episode Chesney left fans stunned when he stripped naked just minutes into the launch show.

As the first celebrity to enter the house on the night he shocked viewers as he played his guitar while completely naked in his VT.

Chesney hitmaker revealed in the clip that one thing people don’t know about him is ‘I am a bit of a nudist. I do like to get naked’.

His confession comes just six months after he bared all in a Saltburn-inspired music video for Get A Hold Of Yourself because he wanted to ‘feel free in his 50s’.

Fans were bowled over by his risque display, as one said: ‘Chesney Hawkes naked on my tele was not on my bingo card.’

    Others wrote on X, formerly Twitter: ‘We’re only 4 minutes in and we already have NAKED CHESNEY HAWKES!!’;

‘Cannot tell u how much I don’t want to see Chesney Hawkes naked,’; ‘Chesney Hawkes naked 5 minutes into the show….reality tv is back!!

In September, Chesney admitted he ‘jumped on the opportunity to get naked’ in his music video for Get A Hold Of Yourself.

He released his first new single in 12 years, and took inspiration from Barry Keoghan‘s famous nude scene in Saltburn where he dances in the buff around the mansion at the end of the movie.

In one snap, Chesney was seen completely naked as he took a soak in a lavish marble bathtub while another showed him lying comfortably on a chair.

Another behind-the-scenes shot showed Chesney dancing down a grand staircase nude.

Filming for Chesney’s music video took place at Thomas Shelby’s (Cillian Murphy) mansion from Peaky Blinders.

In another hilarious snap, Chesney proudly showed off his pert bottom as he posed in front of the extravagant home.

During the filming process, he also opted to wear just a beige fedora hat as he posed naked on the stairs.

While discussing his thought process behind the music video, Chesney cheekily admitted that he wanted to ‘show a different side’ to himself.

Celebrity Big Brother’s Trisha Goddard is accused of ‘ignoring’ American child star Jojo Siwa making her a ‘third wheel’ as she enters the house

Celebrity Big Brother’s Trisha Goddard has been accused of ‘ignoring’ American child star Jojo Siwa as she entered the house during the live episode on Monday.

The TV presenter, 67, who has terminal stage four breast cancer, was the third housemate to enter the luxury pad after Chesney Hawkes, 53, and Jojo, 21, were introduced to ITV viewers.

But as Trisha entered the house, fans of the show have accused her of b-lining for Chesney and leaving Jojo as the ‘third wheel’.

As Trisha and Chesney spoke about how they worked in the same pub growing up and being brought up in the same area, viewers have called out the star for ignoring the Karma singer.

Flocking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer penned: ‘Trisha reminiscing with everyone who walks in while Jojo stands there like’

‘JoJo watching Trisha share her life story with Chesney within the first 5 seconds of her entering the house…’

When Trisha was first introduced to the audience by hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best, she opened up about her reasoning for finally saying yes to go on the show.

She said: ‘Well, I’ve been asked to do it every single year, and I’ve always thought, “Are you kidding me?”.

‘Being on Big Brother would show people how you can live successfully with cancer and not be so scared of dying that you become scared of living. So that’s why I’m doing it.’

The ITV darling, who hosted the popular daytime chat show Trisha from 1998 to 2004, announced in February last year that the cancer she was diagnosed with in 2008 and eventually beat, had sadly returned.

The mother of two daughters Billie and Madison, who relocated to the US in 2010, devastatingly revealed the cancer ‘is not going away’ and keeping the secret was ‘becoming a burden’.

But, while she was ‘nervous’ about revealing the cancer’s re-emergence, ‘It needed to be done’. She received the terminal diagnosis 20 months ago.

Entering the Big Brother House tonight, the TV presenter has said she made the decision, to show people how to live despite having an incurable illness (pictured in 2024)

She has secondary breast cancer – meaning the disease started in the breast and spread to another part of the body – for which there is treatment but no cure.

‘You talk to people and you say you have stage four metastatic cancer. But there’s stage four and there’s stage four’, she said.

‘You can have a few cells and you’re stage four. You can have cancer in your brain, your heart, you know, God forbid, and you’re stage four.

‘So people hear metastatic and they don’t think about the fact that there are people with metastatic breast cancer being treated by my oncologist who have been around for twenty years. So it’s a huge thing.

‘But people hear metastatic and it’s terminal, which isn’t used in the medical world, it’s life limiting.

‘You’re written off and there’s just pity towards you.

‘Anyone going through it, and the Princess of Wales said it perfectly, you’re living with uncertainty, but all you get is pity.

‘I can categorically tell you there are lots of people in lots of industries who are living with cancer who’ve never said a word for that reason.

‘I was doing something the other day and a person revealed to me that they were about to go and get their treatment plan, they were whispering and said, “I can’t let anybody else know about this because I might lose my job.” That’s so wrong.’

Celebrity Big Brother star Patsy Palmer reveals she started drinking alcohol again after ditching booze for more than two decades

Celebrity Big Brother Patsy Palmer has revealed she now drinks alcohol again after she previously ditched booze for more than two decades.

The EastEnders icon, 52, whose real name is Julie Merkell, went teetotal in 2004 after earning a reputation as quite the party girl in the nineties.

And ahead of her arrival in the ITV show house on Monday evening, Patsy confessed that she does drink wine now, but only in moderation.

When asked if she still drinks, Patsy said: ‘No, occasionally I’ll have a glass of wine, it doesn’t bother me, with food. I don’t do anything rigid anymore.

‘I went through many years of following certain programs, which I think are great, I’m not saying anyone should do this because I think all of the programs for people are amazing, but I haven’t followed anything for as long, I’ve just found my own way in life and it should be about that.

‘It should give every single individual a way to live their life, hopefully, whether they decide to continue with it forever or whether they decide to go find their own way and do what they want to do, that should be the goal.

Patsy, who entered the house alongside the likes of Mickey Rourke, Chesney Hawkes and Trisha Goddard, added: ‘There are some people I know who could never have a drop of alcohol ever again, I did think that would be the case for me because that’s what certain programs tell you, but I was never really a big drinker anyway.’

Patsy shot to stardom as market trader Bianca Jackson aged 21, where she found on-screen love with Ricky Butcher, and also found a place in the hearts of the nation.

However off screen, Patsy began struggling with a party hard lifestyle where she would binge on alcohol, cocaine and ecstasy.

The TV star has previously admitted to trying alcohol at eight, sniffing solvents at 11 and even snorting cocaine at just 13.

When she joined the cast of EastEnders, Patsy was a single mother living with her son Charley, now 33, in an East End flat.

She told the Mirror in 2012: ‘Quite often, I’d party all night and go into work the next morning, just grabbing sleep on the set whenever I could, I don’t know how I survived.’

‘My emotions were completely unmanageable at that time and I don’t think I realised how unmanageable they were until I stopped. When I look back and see how much I’ve changed I think I was a different person.’

She went on to marry her husband Richard Merkell in 2000 and the couple now share children Fenton, 24, Emilia, 23, and Bertie, 14.

The media personality previously told how the family ‘don’t have alcohol in the house’ and she follows the 12-step programme from Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.

Patsy said: ‘Ask yourself, ‘Is drinking and taking drugs stopping you from being the best person you want to be?’.

‘And if the answer’s yes, it’s time to knock it on the head. Richard and I didn’t want that for our life.

‘I didn’t want to be falling out of clubs. I wanted a settled home life and now I have.’

Trisha Goddard, 67, speaks out for the first time about why she is doing Celebrity Big Brother whilst also battling terminal breast cancer

Trisha Goddard has spoken out about why she is going into Celebrity Big Brother, whilst also battling her terminal stage four breast cancer diagnosis.

Entering the Big Brother House tonight, the TV presenter has said she made the decision, to show people how to live despite having an incurable illness.

She said: ‘Well, I’ve been asked to do it every single year, and I’ve always thought, “Are you kidding me?”.

‘Being on Big Brother would show people how you can live successfully with cancer and not be so scared of dying that you become scared of living. So that’s why I’m doing it.’

Brave Trisha, 67, also admitted she doesn’t want her housemates too ‘pity’ her about her diagnosis.

The mother-of-two has secondary breast cancer – meaning the disease started in the breast and spread to another part of the body – for which there is treatment but no cure.

The TV star revealed back in February last year that her incurable cancer had returned after cells were found in her hip following a fall, and she is undergoing life-prolonging treatment

‘You’re written off and there’s just pity towards you. Anyone going through it, and the Princess of Wales said it perfectly, you’re living with uncertainty, but all you get is pity.

The presenter said she expects to get pity from her other housemates but doesn’t want it.

She said: ‘There’s the other thing where people find out and they tell you about their mother who went through it and went through hell, they’ll tell you the horror stories.

‘And you’re telling me this, why? Or I get the pity head nod, or they talk about me and my “battle”, how I’m “fighting this”.

‘That pi**** me off. It pi**** 90 per cent of us off because we’re not battling or fighting. We’re sitting on the end of a drip or something, you know, “be strong” or “don’t give in”.’

Trisha now hosts on Talk and occasionally appears on Good Morning Britain and lives in Connecticut with her fourth husband, Allen, who she married in 2022.

Trisha will enter the Celebrity Big Brother on Monday alongside the American actor Mickey Rourke and EastEnders legend, Patsy Palmer, and could be in there for up to three weeks.

Love Island’s Chris Hughes, Olympian Daley Thompson and YouTuber JoJo Siwa are also going in.

Mickey, 72, marks one of the show’s biggest signings in history and with public feuds with Robert De Niro, two marriages and a string of high profile relationships, producers will be hoping the he brings plenty of drama to the house.

Drag Queen Danny Beard is also said to be arriving as a late entry.

Asked how she will time her treatment in case she is in there for a while, Trish said: ‘We’ve timed it. So my oncologist is my biggest cheerleader and is working with the Big Brother team. I’ve got a special therapist who’s happy to work with the medic on the show.

‘And then when it comes to my treatment, I had one infusion on Monday, so I’ve got to jump on a plane and go straight back to have the next one as soon as the show is over. I’ve got a bag full of meds that I normally have which will be with me in the house.

‘So my oncologist has planned my treatment around the production schedule. You see, people can work but they often feel like when it comes to the treatment they have to just be thankful for staying alive and just that. They don’t ask for the things that will help them to be normal.’

Asked if she’d like to win the show, she said: ‘I’ve not even crossed that bridge. People go into the house for different reasons. I’m not an influencer who has to increase my base. I don’t have to prove who I am career wise. The money helps, let’s be honest.

‘But I’ve been asked every year. I’ve been in much more dire situations financially and still turned it down because I didn’t have a reason. I have to have a reason for doing something. I’m in the house to get my message across, whether I come out in week one or at the end. I don’t expect people to know who I am. I never do.’

I visited the Celebrity Big Brother house after its eye-popping makeover – here’s why this year’s series is set to be the toughest yet

With the new series of Celebrity Big Brother just days away, it appears that this year’s series could be the most gruelling yet.

While ITV have landed a lineup that could be considered its most star-studded in history, even Hollywood heavyweights Mickey Rourke and Jojo Siwa won’t be immune from the challenges that lie ahead.

Bosses have pulled out all the stops for this year’s lineup, with other big names including Trisha Goddard, Chesney Hawkes and Patsy Palmer also thought to be taking part, with huge salaries to match.

And having been lucky enough to get a glimpse of the famous abode, I can confirm that it will be a jaw-dropping sight when stars head through the famous doors on Monday.

Awash with colour and lights, there’s nowhere to escape Big Brother’s watchful eye, with even the famous mezzanine, which graced the house last year and offered some housemates a brief moment alone, now a thing of the past.

This year’s house, which has been built in a brand new location, is also significantly smaller than the one which featured in the civilian series last year, meaning there are little spots for stars to escape to when they need a moment to themselves.

I visited the Celebrity Big Brother house after its eye-popping makeover – here’s why this year’s series is set to be the toughest yet

With the new series of Celebrity Big Brother just days away,  bosses have pulled out all the stops for this year’s lineup. However, it seems no expense was spared when it came to redecorating the house either

This year's house, which has been built in a brand new location, features a lavish large bedroom complete with pink details throughout, colourful upholstery, and gold stars

This year’s house, which has been built in a brand new location, features a lavish large bedroom complete with pink details throughout, colourful upholstery, and gold stars

A slight change in layout means that any surprise groups are in view from all angles, with even the garden doors offering a glimpse all the way through the bedroom.

While the kitchen will no-doubt be well-stocked when the housemates move in, it remains to be seen how long these stocks will last, especially when some of this year’s stars are likely used to receiving good food at the snap of a finger.

Celebrities will also have to complete the famous shopping tasks in a bid to keep the fridge and cupboards filled, a far cry from the swanky restaurants that some of this year’s names will be used to, and try to avoid breaking the house rules, under the fear of having luxuries confiscated.

One small vice may come in the nightly ‘refreshments’, when a limited amount of alcohol is delivered for the housemates to enjoy.

This will likely feature regularly on the late-night live feed, which is set to be shown on YouTube and ITVX simultaneously for the first time.

However, without the presence of their minders and managers, stars will have to fend for themselves when it comes to meals and cleaning, with the division of cooking and household chores likely to be a topic of frustration for some.

Could this lead to a surprise name facing eviction? Time will tell.

Likely used to their private space, all of this year’s stars will be moving into one bedroom, with it up to Big Brother when they’re allowed to turn in for the night.

However, with the addition of a prominently-placed double bed, some reluctant stars will be forced to share, sparking questions of whether there could be yet another house romance.

While the toilets are camera-free, a microphone means any secret chats and gossip will be picked up, and could spark yet more drama.

As ever, the living room will be the heart of the house, with stars gathered on the famous sofa ahead of nominations, and for each live eviction, ready to see whether viewers have voted to see them exit early, or keep them for a few days more.

As and when they do say farewell, they will head through the specially-placed eviction door, notable thanks to huge star at the top.

The Diary Room will provide a welcome break from the chaos for some celebrities, ready to vent their frustrations to Big Brother, or pour their hearts out to the viewing nation.

Last year’s civilian lineup may recognise the famous chair, as it is eerily similar to that series, which saw Ali Bromley crowned champion.

This year it’s been given a starry-themed makeover, complete with a gold finish and red curtains, only apt given this is the celebrity edition.

On Friday, the jaw-dropping salaries that this year’s stars are being paid were also revealed and some will be bagging a bigger paycheck than others.

While some shows such as Strictly Come Dancing pay their contestants the same rate, CBB stars are paid a varied salary – with the bigger the star meaning the bigger the pay.

Last year, Sharon Osbourne earned a whopping £800,000 for just an eight day stint as a ‘celebrity lodger’, with her pal Louis Walsh taking home £500,000.

This year, Hollywood heavyweight Mickey Rourke is the highest paid housemate, with the actor’s earnings being a whopping £480,000 more than the lowest paid star.

With the hotly-anticipated series just around the corner, we take a look at the reported wages of all the housemates…

    Mickey Rourke

Mickey set to bag an impressive £500,000 for his stay in the house, despite it previously being reported that he’d bank close to £1million

Mickey’s astronomical payday was recently revealed by MailOnline, with it being said the 80s action star, 72, is being paid a huge six-figure sum.

However, the exact figure has now been revealed, with Mickey set to bag an impressive £500,000 for his stay in the house, despite it previously being reported that he’d bank close to £1million.

A source told The Sun: ‘Mickey is considered a loose cannon, and producers think he is worth getting their big cheque book out for. He is unpredictable, and they know lots of people will tune in to see if he cracks under the pressure.’

    Jojo Siwa

Mickey’s fellow American Jojo is the next highest earning star of the series according to the publication, with the entertainer apparently taking home £400,000.

Jojo has certainly earned her place as one of the biggest signings this year, having shot to fame on Dance Moms in 2015 before going on to star in several shows and embark on a successful music career.

A source added to The Sun: ‘US TV gigs generally pay a lot more than their UK counterparts, so JoJo’s team will expect a minimum amount of money on the table to even consider the offer from CBB bosses.’

They added that the star can ‘easily earn’ a six-figure fee without leaving the US, so leaving her life behind for month of the month has to be ‘worth it financially’.

The TV star has over 20 years experience of being in front of the camera, so a stint in the Big Brother house shouldn’t be too problematic for Angellica.

After an incredible rags to riches life, the beauty is reportedly set to add to her fortunes with a rather decent £80,000 fee.

A source noted to The Sun: ‘Normally, someone who has been in the industry as long as Angellica might get in the six figure zone, but she lacks the controversy or scandal that would garner those higher price points.’

Chris Hughes is set to get a boost to his bank balance as he’s reportedly set to be paid a handsome fee of £45,000

After shooting to fame on Love Island in 2017, Chris went on to become a sports presenter and regularly hosts the horse racing coverage on ITV.

And a stint in the Celebrity Big Brother house will no doubt give his career a further boost.

The hunk is also set to get a boost to his bank balance as he’s reportedly set to be paid a handsome fee of £45,000.

The wage is not as high as fellow Love Islander Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu due to her villa stint being fresher than his, in addition to her recent break-up with Davide Sanclimenti that bosses hoped she’d spill the beans on.

Show bosses are said to have offered Danny £30,000

The RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner – whose real name is Daniel Curtis – signed up as a late entry.

Danny previously made headlines after swearing on Big Brother’s Late & Live last March whilst doing an impression of housemate Louis Walsh.

The incident saw the guest say the word ‘c***’ before immediately apologising after being informed they weren’t allowed to say that on the show.

However, the incident didn’t put off show bosses, who are said to have offered Danny £30,000.

Despite not being as well known as some, the source added that ‘drag queens don’t come cheap’.

    Donna Preston

Donna will reportedly earn the same as Danny, taking home £30,000

Donna will reportedly earn the same as Danny, taking home £30,000

While Donna has featured in several TV shows and movies, the comedy star is known for hosting Apocalypse and for the role of a circus Compere in 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald.

She is also a regular face on spin-off show Late & Live and is ‘very popular’ with ITV2 audiences.

With that being said, Donna will reportedly earn the same as Danny, taking home £30,000.

    Chesney Hawkes

The One and Only singer's latest TV appearance will earn him a humble £25,000

The One and Only singer’s latest TV appearance will earn him a humble £25,000

The singer topped the charts for five weeks in 1991 with his hit The One And Only, before making a string of acting and TV appearances.

And his latest TV appearance will earn him a humble £25,000.

His arrival on CBB has been described by a TV source as ‘perfect timing’, as he’s set to release a comeback album in April.

Chesney’s stint on the programme, branded a ‘novelty booking’, is reportedly not motivated by cash, but rather the publicity, which is great for him amid the release of his album.

    Ella Rae Wise

TOWIE star Ella Rae Wise is said to be taking home £20,000 - a whopping £480 less than US actor Mickey Rourke

TOWIE star Ella Rae Wise is said to be taking home £20,000 – a whopping £480 less than US actor Mickey Rourke

Rounding off the list is TOWIE star Ella, who is this year’s lowest earning housemate.

The blonde bombshell is said to be taking home £20,000 – a whopping £480 less than US actor Mickey Rourke.

It is said that a couple of factors have affected Ella’s fee, with one being that TOWIE doesn’t have the ‘pulling power’ it once did, meaning that she can’t command the higher fees former Essex stars have in the past.

In addition, while Ella has a strong social media following, it isn’t as high as the likes of Love Island’s Chris, who has around 2 million Instagram followers compared to Ella’s 340k.

  • Leigh Francis says he ‘doesn’t regret’ any of his TV controversies and refuses to apologise despite backlash over Bo Selecta and Keith Lemon

Leigh Francis says he ‘doesn’t regret’ any of his TV controversies and refuses to apologise despite backlash over Bo Selecta and Keith Lemon

Leigh Francis has said he ‘doesn’t regret’ any of his controversial behaviour as his TV alter-egos.

The comedian, 51, is best known for his divisive alter-ego Keith Lemon, who became known for his outlandish and misogynistic comments on ITV show Celebrity Juice.

Leigh’s comedy series Bo Selecta was also pulled from Channel 4’s streaming service in 2020, over its portrayal of black celebrities including Craig David and Trisha Goddard.

The removal, following the death of George Floyd and the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, led Leigh to tearfully apologise for causing ‘any upset’ and said he ‘didn’t realise how offensive it was back then.’

But in a new interview on the Who We Are Now with Izzy & Richard Hammond podcast, Leigh insisted he has no regrets for his past behaviour, but would ‘probably change’ some things if given the chance.

He said: ‘Let’s get cut to the chase. Some people say, ”Do you regret some of the things you did in your past?” No, I don’t. I don’t regret anything. Would I change things? Probably.’

Leigh Francis has said he ‘doesn’t regret’ any of his controversial behaviour as his TV alter-egos, but would ‘probably change’ some things

Leigh added that the ‘rules’ of comedy have changed since his first rose to fame, and he’s more mindful with his approach.

He added: ‘You don’t know that back then, and you play to what the rules are back then, where no one is bothered about anything you’re doing. And then rules change.

‘So you would do it different now, because, you know, some people might be upset by things.’

‘Things change. And then you look back at things, then you talk to friends, and then you go, ”Oh, I’ll just apologise for what I did.”

‘It’s weird because you don’t set out with malice or anything. And we didn’t think, ”Aren’t we edgy? We’re doing something naughty here.” We just did it because it was silly. And I don’t apologise for Bo’ Selecta, but I apologise for upsetting people that were offended by it.’

Leigh went onto add that as a comedian, viewers should never take his jokes too seriously, continuing: ‘I’m a court jester, which is the lowest of the low. ‘Sing and dance, make me laugh.

‘You shouldn’t take what I’m saying seriously, because first of all, my name is not Keith Lemon. I’m acting!

‘And even with people that might have been offended by Keith Lemon, saying he’s misogynistic or something. No, you supposed to be. You’re not laughing with him; you’re laughing at him. He’s a fool!’

‘He would say things that there’s no way on Earth I would say. But I know people who say such things, and I laugh at them for saying it… You can laugh at people that say horrendous things, I think.’

Leigh has previously divided viewers with his controversial characters, and went onto admit that he’s found some of the crticism difficult to handle.

He added: ‘It hurts, doesn’t it? I think anyone saying, ”Oh, you’re a bad man” or whatever, you just go, ”I’m not,” because I’m too daft.

‘I don’t want to p*** people off, you want to make them laugh. And I think everyone, most comedians, just want to make people laugh.’

Leigh previously shared that a planned comeback of his comedy series Bo Selecta! had been shelved, after working on a rebranded pilot of the programme.

He spoke out about his future plans during a question and answer session on social media while touring the UK with his solo comedy show.

He said during on Instagram: ‘Keith Lemon is, well, I’ll never kill any characters off. I don’t ever kill any characters off.

‘Apart from if it’s one that someone is really upset by. Then you don’t do it anymore, because you only d**k about to put smiles on people’s faces.’

Speaking of his solo tour, he added: ‘So if you are pining for a bit of rubber mask tom foolery, here it is, in tour format.’

The reinvention comes after Craig David and Trisha Goddard slammed Leigh for his ‘racist’ depiction of him on his Channel 4 sketch show Bo’ Selecta!.

Leigh (pictured in character as Keith Lemon) said: 'Let's get cut to the chase. Some people say, ''Do you regret some of the things you did in your past?'' No, I don't. I don't regret anything'

Leigh (pictured in character as Keith Lemon) said: ‘Let’s get cut to the chase. Some people say, ”Do you regret some of the things you did in your past?” No, I don’t. I don’t regret anything’

Leigh carried out impressions of Craig and other celebrities on the show, including Mel B and Trisha Goddard, and there were many instances of blackface and apologised last year.

Leigh, who is also hosting a radio show on Virgin said: ‘When I turned 50 I just thought it’s time to do stuff as myself.

‘Comedy wise, as well, I don’t think character comedy’s in fashion at the minute if I’m honest.’

The comedian added: ‘It’s like sketch shows become fashionable, and panel shows – genres of comedy become fashionable.

‘And at the moment I just don’t think that character comedy is fashionable. I might be totally wrong. There’ll probably be some amazing comedian come through playing some character and we’ll all think it’s ace.

‘But just because I turned 50 and you go “I don’t know how long I’ve got left on earth never mind in this business and there’s stuff I want to do as me.

‘Everyone used to say to me “Why don’t you do a grown-up version of Art Attack?” And I would say “What’s a grown up version of Art Attack – me painting with me willy out?” What does that mean?

‘I can do a version of it that’s both for children and adults, because most of the things that I make are stuff from the eighties anyway. So I always go “that’s adult there, because it’s from the eighties”.

‘I’d like to do some sort of art programme.’

And explaining why she kept her cancer under wraps, she said: ‘I was grappling on how to deal with it myself, plus, I just wanted to work and be me.

‘With CNN and my colleagues, they didn’t know that I had no hair, that I had no feeling in my legs from the treatment. I had chemo every week for four and a half months.’

The star then went on to recall a moment when she was left ‘mortified’ when one of her colleagues discretely informed her she had a nosebleed – a side effect of her treatment – while on air.

Meanwhile, Trisha revealed that she’d started her cancer treatment the morning after her wedding to husband Allen, whose identity was revealed earlier this year.

She said: ‘My treatment started the morning after my wedding. Eight in morning and in the oncology department!’

The star added that she was forced to delay the honeymoon for two years due to her cancer treatment.

On how she’s doing now, she noted: ‘I’m okay, I’m fine, I’m getting used to my new normal’, before sharing she’s getting treatment every three weeks.

She added that the cancer unit is her ‘second family’ due to the amount of time she spends there.

After bravely opening up about her treatment, fans were quick to share their support for the presenter.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, viewers shared: ‘I know others going through this- God bless you, Trisha Goddard. Your indomitable spirit is inspiring.’

    ‘Unbelievable strong lady’.

It comes after Trisha admitted she feared she would have to tie the knot with her husband Allen ‘in a Zimmer frame’ after setting a wedding date just a month after undergoing vital hip surgery.

Speaking to Hello! about her diagnosis, Trisha also shared her husband’s identity of the first time, having previously kept his name and face a secret on social media.

She also revealed intimate details about her wedding to Allen, after they tied the knot in August 2022.

The Dancing On Ice star admitted that after getting engaged in January of that year she was horrified by the prospect of getting married in a ‘Zimmer frame’.

The couple set a date for their big day just a month after her hip operation, and they were wed by a Rabbi in front of 70 guests at their local restaurant in Connecticut.

Donning a Victoria Beckham dress, Trisha used a decorated walking cane to make her way down the aisle, but kept her cancer a secret from a majority of those in attendance.

She said: ‘We said a few things to a few people and then thought ”we’re not doing that again”. Not because people are horrible, but they bring their own s**t to the rodeo.

‘They’ll cry or say ”is there anything I can do?” and then you don’t hear from them again.’

A day after she and Allen were married, Trisha began radiation therapy for her cancer, instead of going on honeymoon.

After undergoing hip surgery, Trisha underwent daily radiation for three weeks and weekly chemotherapy for four and a half months as well as intense physiotherapy.

Keith Lemon’s alter ego, Leigh Francis, shares disappointing news that the planned return of Bo Selecta! has been cancelled after a remake pilot, over a decade since the show was last aired.

Leigh Francis has revealed he’s shelved plans for a comeback of his controversial comedy show Bo Selecta!

The comedian, 50, had been working on a rebranded pilot of the programme 13 years after it was last on air.

Funnyman Keith spoke out about his future plans during a question and answer session on social media while touring the UK with his solo comedy show.

Bo Selecta originally aired on Channel 4 and bosses of its streaming service removed all episodes of the show in 2020 following a backlash.

Meanwhile, Leigh revealed why he’s decided to do his first comedy tour as himself after rising to fame as his alter ego Keith Lemon.

The former Bo’ Selecta! star admitted that while turning 50 influenced his choice, he also fears that character comedy is ‘going out of fashion.’

He is now set to go on tour as his real self using his real name, but adding some of his characters on stage.

The reinvention comes after Craig David and Trisha Goddard slammed  Leigh for his ‘racist’ depiction of him on his Channel 4 sketch show Bo’ Selecta!.

The comedian added: It’s like sketch shows become fashionable, and panel shows – genres of comedy become fashionable.

As well as his passion for art, Leigh said he’d like to indulge in his love of film, adding: ‘I’m a massive film buff so something where you can show your passion.’

The TV personality continued: ‘Because when you’re in character you can only show your passion so much for something.’

Lemon also said a factor in his change of direction is cancel culture.

He said: ‘Near the end of Keith Lemon – I’m not saying that he’s finished because I’m doing him in my tour – he became more like me because the landscape of comedy changed as well.

‘You have to be a bit more mindful. You never set out to offend anyone. Everything comes from your heart and it’s to put smiles on faces – never to offend anyone.’

He added on the White Wine Question Time podcast: ‘It doesn’t come from a place of malice, it comes from a place of childish silliness. When I’ve lampooned anyone it’s because I like them.’

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world and affects more than two MILLION women a year

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. Each year in the UK there are more than 55,000 new cases, and the disease claims the lives of 11,500 women. In the US, it strikes 266,000 each year and kills 40,000. But what causes it and how can it be treated?

    What is breast cancer?

It comes from a cancerous cell which develops in the lining of a duct or lobule in one of the breasts.

When the breast cancer has spread into surrounding tissue it is called ‘invasive’. Some people are diagnosed with ‘carcinoma in situ’, where no cancer cells have grown beyond the duct or lobule.

Most cases develop in those over the age of 50 but younger women are sometimes affected. Breast cancer can develop in men, though this is rare.

Staging indicates how big the cancer is and whether it has spread. Stage 1 is the earliest stage and stage 4 means the cancer has spread to another part of the body.

The cancerous cells are graded from low, which means a slow growth, to high, which is fast-growing. High-grade cancers are more likely to come back after they have first been treated.

    What causes breast cancer?

A cancerous tumour starts from one abnormal cell. The exact reason why a cell becomes cancerous is unclear. It is thought that something damages or alters certain genes in the cell. This makes the cell abnormal and multiply ‘out of control’.

Although breast cancer can develop for no apparent reason, there are some risk factors that can increase the chance, such as genetics.

What are the symptoms of breast cancer?

The usual first symptom is a painless lump in the breast, although most are not cancerous and are fluid filled cysts, which are benign.

The first place that breast cancer usually spreads to is the lymph nodes in the armpit. If this occurs you will develop a swelling or lump in an armpit.

    How is breast cancer diagnosed?

    • Initial assessment: A doctor examines the breasts and armpits. They may do tests such as a mammography, a special x-ray of the breast tissue which can indicate the possibility of tumours.
    • Biopsy: A biopsy is when a small sample of tissue is removed from a part of the body. The sample is then examined under a microscope to look for abnormal cells. The sample can confirm or rule out cancer.

If you are confirmed to have breast cancer, further tests may be needed to assess if it has spread. For example, blood tests, an ultrasound scan of the liver or a chest X-ray.

    How is breast cancer treated?

Treatment options which may be considered include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone treatment. Often a combination of two or more of these treatments are used.

    • Surgery: Breast-conserving surgery or the removal of the affected breast depending on the size of the tumour.
    • Radiotherapy: A treatment which uses high energy beams of radiation focused on cancerous tissue. This kills cancer cells, or stops them from multiplying. It is mainly used in addition to surgery.
    • Chemotherapy: A treatment of cancer by using anti-cancer drugs which kill cancer cells, or stop them from multiplying.
    • Hormone treatments: Some types of breast cancer are affected by the ‘female’ hormone oestrogen, which can stimulate the cancer cells to divide and multiply. Treatments which reduce the level of these hormones, or prevent them from working, are commonly used in people with breast cancer.

    How successful is treatment?

The outlook is best in those who are diagnosed when the cancer is still small, and has not spread. Surgical removal of a tumour in an early stage may then give a good chance of cure.

The routine mammography offered to women between the ages of 50 and 70 means more breast cancers are being diagnosed and treated at an early stage.
