Trinny Woodall has revealed that Michael Parkinson whispered to her that Meg Ryan was ‘a c***’ after their infamously icy interview in 2003.
The What Not To Wear star, 60, appeared on the episode of Parkinson’s chat show with her sidekick Susannah Constantine before Meg was interviewed.
The pair were the warm-up act to Parkinson’s interview with actress Meg, which saw her give him very short answers to questions and ended in a heated exchange.
Appearing on the Dish from Waitrose podcast with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, Trinny let slip how the late broadcaster really felt after the car-crash interview.
‘I do remember something very specifically, god rest Mr. Parkinson,’ she said. ‘Um, we were on first and then she came in…And then when we left, he whispered in my ear and went, “God, wasn’t she a c***?”‘

Michael passed away in August 2023 at the age of 88 following a brief illness.
Recalling the interview, Trinny continued: ‘It was just like, because he was really… there she was to promote her film, and he asked any question and, you know, you’re there to sing for your supper, you’re promoting a film, you’re getting paid millions, which people are paying £12.99 to see you, so, you know, give us something.
‘And she was, “No. Yes. No.” No elaboration…We had done our interview and then they bring in the main star, because we were the warm up act, so usually they then have tons of time and you might be able to throw in one question.’
Trinny added: ‘He (Michael) was so desperate that we threw in quite a few questions…Just to kind of ease off the, um, difficult party atmosphere…Never forget it, yeah.’
In 2003, Meg gave a series of short answers, whilst promoting her film ‘In the Cut’ on Sir Michael Parkinson’s BBC talk show.
The Hollywood actress seemingly desired to be elsewhere while promoting her film ‘In the Cut’.
During the icy discussion, Michael asked if her apprehension of journalists gives her insight into what they want and Ryan defensively replied: ‘Now that I am wary of them?’
Michael answered: ‘Yes, you are wary of journalists, you are wary of me, you are wary of the interview. You don’t like being interviewed.’
He later asked: ‘If you were me, what would you do now?’, to which Meg ordered him to ‘Just wrap it up.’

Michael branded ‘beautiful Meg’ as an ‘unhappy woman’, while she hit back labelling him a ‘nut’
He also later claimed in an interview with Australia’s Stellar Magazine that Meg (pictured in 2018) was impolite to the guests on his show

The talk show veteran boiled Ryan’s irritated facial expressions and stand-off-ish behaviour down to her film’s poor performance.
In 2020, Michael stated: ‘There was very good reason; she was in a film that didn’t do very well and was at the end of a long tour and couldn’t wait to get home.’
But in a chat with Marie Claire, the star of When Harry Met Sally placed the blame on Michael for the frosty interview.
She stated that she felt Michael was criticising her for being nude in the movie, saying that she was ‘so offended by him’.
In 2006, Ryan said: ‘I don’t even know the man. That guy was like some disapproving father! It’s crazy. I don’t know what he is to you guys, but he’s a nut.
‘He said something like, “You should go back to doing what you were doing”. I thought, “Are you like a disapproving dad? Back off, buddy”. I was so offended.’
Years later, Michael was questioned about what interview he would re-do given the chance
The broadcasting juggernaut told GMB: ‘I would like to get the Meg Ryan one right. I mean we were both in a fairly grim mood I think. There was another way to handle that and extract more fun from it.’
