MORE than one dozen performers who earned their living impersonating famous singers descended on Las Vegas.
The musical impersonators were in Sin City for a special screening of Kate Hudson’s new movie, Song Sung Blue, and hit the red carpet dressed as their famous tributes.
Spanning multiple generations and music styles, they covered everyone from Dolly Parton to Britney Spears and attended the special screening for tribute acts.
Song Sung Blue hits cinemas on Christmas Day and stars Kate playing the real-life Claire Sardina who performed in a Neil Diamond tribute band with her husband Mike Sardina (Hugh Jackman).
The UK was even represented at the screening by Rod Stewart and Annie Lennox impersonators.
The questionable Rod Stewart tribute act donned a spiky blonde wig and wore his shirt unbuttoned done to the chest in a nod to the Maggie singer.
Other acts in Las Vegas for the premiere included Rat Pack stars, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr and Frank Sinatra.
There was also a Michael Jackson impersonator, Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Marilyn Monroe, Neil Diamond, Tina Turner and Lady Gaga.
Kate has been nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in Song Sung Blue, and is tipped to also pick up an Oscar nod for the role.
The movie follows Mike and Claire as two down on their luck musicians, who turn the life around after forming the Neil Diamond tribute band.
She was cast in the role after Hugh saw her talking about how much she loved singing and making music.
“Hugh saw me being interviewed, where I’m talking about how I simply had to be singing and writing music, and he was like: ‘Well, she obviously needs to be Claire’,” Kate told The Guardian.
Kate admitted that she loved working with Hugh and they had a great chemistry, making it easy to be convincing as their characters who were falling in love while putting the band together.
“I knew the movie wouldn’t work if people didn’t believe the love story,” she told Variety. “That was my biggest concern going in.”
She added: “I told Hugh, ‘I’m super tactile. We need to really get to know each other and find this intimacy.’
“The first thing we did was sing. It came really easy.”
