Veteran Channel Nine staffer Chris Anderson died on Wednesday while on holiday in Bali.

Anderson, who had worked as a sound recordist on A Current Affair for almost two decades, was on the trip with his wife and son when he was involved in a fatal accident.

On Thursday morning, Nine chief executive Matt Stanton confirmed Anderson's death in an all-staff email.

'Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family, friends and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time,' Stanton began.

He added that staff should 'look out for one another today'.

Meanwhile, Fiona Dear, Nine's executive director of news and current affairs, paid tribute to Anderson in a statement.

'His longevity at just one program is a testament to his talent and how much he was loved, trusted and valued,' she began.

'This loss will be a terrible shock to his many colleagues and friends across the industry who have worked alongside him over the years.'

Anderson had worked on A Current Affair since 2008 and was widely known among colleagues by the nickname 'Ando'. 

Anderson is survived by his wife Charlotte and their son Otis. 

His death comes just months after that of another beloved Nine staffer.

He was the director of the network's sports sales portfolio, including the commercial strategy for the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Nine's chief sales officer Matt James broke the news, remembering his colleague as a 'cornerstone' of the team.
