Some of the most luxurious homes across the world have been made available for those wanting to splash cash on a getaway—or split the budget with their mates.

But did you know some of the most popular digs can be found right here in Australia?

From award-winning beachfront pads to lavish country retreats, some of the best holiday homes are Down Under—and they may even be your neighbour. 

One home sits near a TV hotspot, while others have been known to attract celebrities and cashed-up Aussie socialites.

Here are the top ten most popular Airbnbs in Australia.  

Sandy Bay

Kicking off with a chic courtyard apartment tucked inside a heritage-listed former bakery in Sandy Bay, Tasmania.

The popular getaway, which sits just 2km from Salamanca in Hobart, landed owners Alix and John the Host of the Year award during the 2025 Australian Host Awards.

It features a king-size bed, sunlit courtyard with a full-size outdoor bath, and a cosy living space with a gas fireplace. 

Guests can also enjoy the heated bathroom floors, compact kitchen, and personal touches like local treats, with a week’s stay worth about $3,162. 

Host Advisory Board member Sarah Huang, who was on the judging panel for the Host Awards this year, praised Alix and John for their personal hosting style.

‘The Braithwaite hosts exemplify hyper-personalised, emotionally resonant hosting,’ she said.

‘Whether it’s a handwritten note referencing a guest’s life or welcoming descendants of original bakers, these hosts transform history into hospitality.’

Bondi Beach 

Overlooking famous Bondi Beach and nearby hotspot Icebergs is a ‘majestic’ beachfront pad popular among celebrities.

The two-bedroom, one-bathroom designer apartment is just a two-minute walk from the iconic beach, made famous by the reality TV show Bondi Rescue. 

It boasts king-size and queen-size bedrooms with a massive terrace overlooking the water, and can house four guests for about $6,219 a week.

The Mediterranean-style unit also features soaring 3.5m patterned ceilings and a bifold bay window opening onto the beach. 

An oversized main bedroom also has iconic views.

Barrengarry

Woodside 

Erin and Rory, who won Best New Host of the year, own and run The Nook –  a cosy studio cottage in the peaceful Adelaide Hills in South Australia.

The Nook is considered an affordable yet luxurious nature escape for couples looking for a romantic weekend or solo travellers searching for adventure.

The one-bedroom unit is built on Erin and Rory’s family property, with an open-plan living area, fireplace and private patio.

Natural brick and wood panelling give it a quintessential Australian outback feel, with a couple or solo traveller expected to pay $2,044 for a week-long stay. 

A hot tub overlooking the tranquil surrounds has proven to be a favourite among guests.

Mount Martha

Ideal for nature-lovers, Ligo has become a popular base to disconnect from online spaces and reconnect with the Australian bush.   

The 2025 Host Awards judge Huang said Ligo ‘merges wilderness and architecture with humility and intention’.

Hornsby 

Those looking to book a single room rather than an entire house or unit often turn to Sydney hosts Caroline and Daniel.

The pair have offered up a peaceful upstairs retreat in their home, providing guests with a queen bed and private bathroom.

A tranquil garden and verandah is also thoroughly enjoyed by visitors, who are likely to fork out a modest $652 for a week-long stay in the bedroom.

The space includes heating, cooling and natural light, along with premium linens.

Guests are also said to rave about the top-tier cleanliness, warm hospitality, and generous offerings of snacks, in addition to full kitchen access.  

‘Caroline offers honest hospitality at its finest,’ Airbnb Host Advisory Board member Huang said.

The room is a favourite for those after just a short stay, with guests typically enjoying the local offerings in Hornsby before heading into Sydney CBD.

Perth   

Yet another celebrity favourite to make it onto the list.

This luxury Perth apartment sits high above the city with three bedrooms that can house a maximum of six guests.

Stunning city skyline views and the central location fetch this unit up to $3,920 per week for a full house. 

It is ideal for families, business travellers or groups of friends looking to enjoy a show at the local RAC Arena.

Luxury finishes give this hub a contemporary chic look, with two bathrooms and a full kitchen available.

Guests can also enjoy an on-site gym and activity room, with a state-of-the-art fitness centre and table tennis amenities.

Kings Beach 

The final home to make it onto this list is yet another award-winner—taking home the Best Design Stay during this year’s Host Awards.
