She may look like a typical millionaire wife with her passion for fitness, classy wardrobe and love of horses.

But this is Toni Terry one of the original WAG bunch who tore up Baden Baden at the 2006 World Cup, alongside Coleen Rooney, Cheryl Cole and Alex Gerrard.

Almost two decades later, she has carefully cultivated a new image for herself that’s a world away from the brash blonde hair and flashy WAG fashion that was the uniform of the day, in favour of a sleek ‘stealth wealth’ look.

She has also forged her own path in the limelight both as a professional dressage horse rider and workout-obsessed ‘fitfluencer’, so she will no doubt be dismayed to have old wounds reopened after her husband’s most notorious cheating scandal resurfaced this week.

In 2009, the world of sport was rocked by reports that her Chelsea footballer husband John had cheated on her with his pal Wayne Bridge’s then-girlfriend, rench underwear model Vanessa Perroncel.

While Toni ultimately forgave her husband, the unsavoury tale reared its head again when Wayne Bridge’s would-be boxing opponent KSI used it to taunt him ahead of a planned bout.

But it was by far the only time Toni was publicly embarassed by rumours about her husband.

In the lead up to Toni and John’s wedding in 2007, the Chelsea star faced public allegations of affairs with as many as eight women.

He later admitted to cheating on Toni and swore to change his ways. But their relationship hit crisis point two years later when John’s ninth affair, with French underwear model Vanessa Perroncel, was revealed.

Toni stood by her man despite his infidelities earning herself the reputation of a ‘downtrodden WAG’, but a decade and a half later the pair are still going strong.

Speaking to The Sun in 2018, Toni, who gave birth to twins Georgie and Summer in 2006, said: ‘Everyone else seemed to look amazing but I hated all the pictures I saw of me.

‘Perhaps I should have been easier on myself — I had just had twins, after all — but this was the slightly insane world I lived in and the pressure was immense. That was the trigger for me to change my body for ever. With the support of John, both of us are very happy indeed.’

Toni was inspired to transform her look and she threw herself into the world of fitness.

To this day, Toni’s Instagram feed is full of her fitness endeavours where she displays her chiselled abs, as she shares clips of her constant workout sessions.

And it appears the rest of the family has also caught the bug, as Toni, John and their two daughters are regularly seen out enjoying runs or exercising together in the gym.

Toni is also a keen horse-rider, having worked professionally as a Dressage Rider since 2010 – with a brief hiatus between 2016 and 2020.

John’s lengthy list of infidelities began in 1999 when he embarked on a six-month with glamour girl Jayne Connery – who said he had insisted he was single.

In 2002, Nicola Ulian revealed John sneaked her into the team hotel to romp, while sex worker Emma Kearney described their extra-marital antics as ‘wild and a little rough’.

And 21-year-old Lianne Johnson revealed she and John had sex in a nightclub toilet while she was on crutches with a broken leg in 2005 – just one year before he married Toni.

When news of his fling with Vanessa broke in 2009, Toni fled to Dubai with their two children. She showed her husband what he was missing in a series of beachy bikini snaps as she tried to avoid the media storm brewing back home.

John was granted compassionate leave from Chelsea in order to travel out to the United Arab Emirates to try and patch things up to save his marriage.

‘Please, I really want this to work. I know you do too.’

Toni decided to accept her husband’s version of events that the affair with Vanessa was nothing but a ‘silly fling’, it was later claimed by a friend of hers.

‘Toni’s given him the benefit of the doubt,’ the friend told the Daily Mirror. ‘JT insists it was a silly fling and didn’t mean anything. She’s chosen to believe his version rather than what everyone else is telling her.

‘Frankly, she’s been through all this before but not as bad as this. But if he steps out of line again she will throw him out and make sure he has as little contact with his kids as possible.’

‘She’s so in love with John. They’ve known each other since they were kids but he’s repeatedly hurt her.’

John had initially used human rights laws to obtain a gagging order against the press to prevent the affair from coming to light, claiming his right to a ‘private and family life’ at the time.

But his High Court bid failed and the injunction was eventually lifted a week after it was first imposed.

At the time, the court did not specify when John’s affair began or how long it lasted, but there was one unconfirmed suggestion that it was still going as recently as a month before it emerged.

In 2005, two years before marrying Toni, John admitted he had cheated on her in the past.

He said: ‘I’ve misbehaved and slept with girls behind her back. I’m not going to cheat on her ever again and I want to marry her more than anything.’

But the very day he was quoted, it emerged he had a fling with a blonde – and even borrowed his friend Wayne’s £4million house as a love nest.

His alleged lover Shalimar Wimble claimed: ‘John never mentioned his fiancé Toni to me – I guess that’s why he took me to Wayne’s place.’

Wayne had been set to fight the YouTube star in Manchester on March 29, but during a face-off in the ring, KSI said: ‘Aren’t you the guy that let John Terry smash your ex?’

Wayne replied: ‘You want to go there straight away do you?’

‘I’m pretty sure that’s what you’re known for,’ KSI added, before riling up the crowd and starting a chant that went: ‘Vanessa woah, Vanessa woah’, referencing Wayne’s ex-girlfriend.

KSI proceeded to add X-rated words to his chant that directly referenced John and Wayne’s former partner.

In the aftermath, Wayne announced on Monday that he would be pulling out of the fight, saying that he wished to protect his family from such comments and would seek another challenge in the ring later down the line.

Wayne and John had long been close friends when the cheating scandal emerged and for a period they were neighbours in a gated community in Surrey. Wayne was with John at Chelsea for five years until he moved to Manchester City in 2008.

Although Vanessa rubbished the credibility of the story, which later prompted the newspaper to issue an apology, Wayne refused to shake John’s hand ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Chelsea in 2010.

John was stripped of his England captaincy by then-manager Fabio Capello due to the scandal, though he was reinstated the following year.
