Karl Stefanovic stunned Olympic swimmer Stephanie Rice on Friday as he attempted to re-enact her husband Mark Lassey’s proposal.
Stephanie, 36, and Mark ,46, appeared on the Today show on Friday, returning to spot where he got down on one knee.
The Nine breakfast show is currently broadcasting from the stunning Atlantis The Royal hotel in The Palm Jumeirah.
The swanky locale provided the perfect backdrop for Mark’s proposal in September last year.
Wanting to recapture the loved-up moment, Karl asked Mark to reply the moment he popped the question.

‘I just thought maybe we could re-enact the moment you proposed, and maybe a little kiss for national TV?’ Karl asked.
The couple were more than happy to oblige, with Mark saying: ‘We’d love that’ before asking the Today host if he had a suitable ring.
In a move that is sure to raise wife Jasmine’s eyebrows, Karl then attempted to remove his wedding band to use as a prop in the mock proposal.
A shocked Stephanie immediately reached for Karl’s hand in an attempt to prevent him taking it off.
‘Don’t take that off! What are you doing?’ she shouted, sporting a wide-eyed expression.
Elsewhere in the chat, the former Olympic swimming champion relived the moment Mark proposed, admitting that she knew it was coming.
‘[I had] mixed thoughts – I have to be super honest because I knew it was happening. All day I knew that Mark was going to propose,’ she said.
‘I knew it was going to happen but I just didn’t know it was going to be here. The whole time I was like, “stay present” but you’re like, “is it now? Is it now? is it now?’

Despite the anticipation reaching fever pitch, Stephanie admitted when the big moment arrived her mind went blank.
‘When he finally proposed, I don’t remember anything that he said because it was so hot,’ she admitted.
She also admitted to feeling ‘blessed’ to have met and married Mark while her husband revealed that he is ‘the luckiest guy on the planet’.
Stephanie took to Instagram to share an array of sweet snaps of the moment Mark popped the question in September last year.
The couple looked overjoyed as they beamed from ear-to-ear and shared a kiss, while Stephanie flashed her diamond sparkler.
Stephanie looked effortlessly glamorous in a gorgeous white floral dress and strapped heels during the picture-perfect outdoor hotel proposal.
She accentuated her stunning features with a high-glamour make-up palette and looked happier than ever as she cuddled up to her new fiancé.
Mark cut a dapper figure in a white shirt, cream trousers and a black blazer as he presented Stephanie with a diamond ring from Perth’s Charles Edward Jewellers.

The newly-engaged couple packed on the PDA as they shared a romantic kiss after Mark popped the big question.
In a caption, Stephanie gushed: ‘Here’s to fresh starts and second chances… Yes to a lifetime with you.’
She concluded the post with a Bible verse, writing: ‘Seek your happiness in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desire.” Psalm 37:4.’
Stephanie had been quietly dating the Australian pastor for five months before officially confirming their romance.
They were introduced through a mutual friend and then started a long-distance romance as Mark is based in Perth while Stephanie moved to Dubai in November.
‘When we met almost 5 months ago, we both knew this was different,’ she gushed in an Instagram post alongside cosy snaps of herself and Mark.
‘From the start, there was a deep intentionally between us, and because of the complexities of our lives we wanted to keep these first few months between close family and friends, and enjoy the wonder of falling in love.’
‘But as God would have it, that first phone conversation made us feel like this was exactly where we were both meant to end up,’ she continued before detailing their long-distance romance.

The couple cemented their whirlwind romance in January, trying the knot a vineyard ceremony in Mark’s native Perth.
Just days later, the couple shocked fans with a second wedding, also in Perth.
‘Because one night wasn’t enough. We had the most amazing night celebrating our marriage and farewell with our favourite people, on the most amazing rooftop, in this beautiful city, under the presence of God,’ Stephanie wrote on Instagram at the time.
‘Thank you to all our family and friends who flew from across the world to make these the most memorable days of our lives,’ the athlete continued.
