Tom Holland’s £10M Spider-Man Shutdown Accident Revealed

Tom Holland’s on-set accident on Spider-Man that has resulted in a shutdown in production estimated to be worth £10 million has been revealed.

The actor, 29, is currently recuperating after being treated for a ‘mild concussion’ following an incident during filming last Friday.

It was previously reported how paramedics rushed to the scene at Leavesden Studios in Watford before taking Tom to hospital for treatment.

Now, an insider close to the blockbuster has revealed how the accident on set ‘wasn’t as bad’ as previously feared, though the star suffered a bump to the head.

The source said: ‘The accident wasn’t as bad as people think. A line snapped on a pull ring and he got a bump on his bonce.

‘Filming was supposed to start again in London on Thursday, but for now the production team have been told to stand down for two weeks.’

They added to The Sun: ‘Tom has been taking it easy as he had a suspected concussion and no one wants him to rush back to set.’

A spokesperson for the East Of England Ambulance Service previously said: ‘We were called at 10.30am on Friday to attend to a patient who had sustained an injury at Leavesden Studios in Watford.

‘An ambulance was sent to the scene, and the patient was transported to hospital for further care.’

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is the fourth film in the Multi Cinematic Universe, is believed to cost $200m, approximately £150m.

Despite the filming chaos, the movie is still on track for its July 2026 release date.

Daily Mail revealed how the shutdown in production is estimated to cost bosses an eye-watering £1.5 million a day.

Industry sources explained how costs for crew, studio space and equipment rental would still continue despite the pause.

An insider said: ‘It’s a headache for any production to have to pause filming, but with a movie of this scale it will be a huge migraine for the producers and studio.

‘Crew still need to be paid throughout the delay and there is also secondary location costs to consider.

‘While health and safety comes first, everyone on the shoot will be hoping to get the cameras rolling again sooner rather than later.’

Emeka Egbuonu, a film director, also told to Daily Mail: ‘On a production the size of Spider-Man, which carries a $200 million budget, the daily running costs are immense.

‘Once you factor in cast, crew, set locations, equipment, and the logistical machine that keeps a blockbuster moving, each day of filming can cost between $1.5 and $2 million [£1.1m and £1.5m]

‘The challenge is that even when filming halts, many of those costs don’t disappear — the crew still need to be paid, sets need to be maintained, and equipment continues to be on hire.’

He added it represents a ‘significant financial hit for the studio and putting added pressure on schedules and delivery timelines’.

While the final casting of the latest instalment in the franchise has not been confirmed, Tom is believed to be starring alongside Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, 23.

Zendaya, the actor’s real-life fiancée, plays Peter Parker’s girlfriend MJ.

Tom was seen filming for the first time in Glasgow earlier this summer, transforming the city into New York City for the sequel.
