Tom Hiddleston has hinted at a ‘monumental’ return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he will star as Loki in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
The actor, 44, last appeared as the character in Ant-Man and the Wasp and he also appeared in Infinity War and Endgame.
Speaking to GQ magazine, he said: ‘My contribution has been contributed. It is monumental.
‘The centre of the story is absolutely brilliant, and was so surprising when I read it. It just has never been done before.’
Tom, who has starred as Jonathan Pine in spy thriller The Night Manager since 2016, recently had a reckoning with age when he recently saw a clip from season one when he was nearly a decade younger.
The actor said he had a similar reckoning when he was 27 and his acting career still hadn’t taken off.

He was landing bit parts on TV shows at the time and kept getting rejected at auditions and felt he wasn’t in control of his life.
However, he gained a new lease on life after telling himself to toughen up.
He explained: ‘Eventually I was like: “Tom, get a grip. Go towards what interests you and motivates you. Get rid of people who don’t make you feel good, who embarrass you or make you do things you don’t want to do. Try not to be such a people pleaser and see where you end up.” ‘
While things are going well for Tom professionally, he also had some good news in his personal life when his fiancée Zawe Ashton recently gave birth to the couple’s second child.
In November, Zawe revealed she had welcomed her second child as she visited the Little Village baby bank charity.
Sharing the post on Instagram, Zawe wrote: ‘Today, I chose to mark a milestone in postpartum recovery with a trip to one of the @littlevillagehq baby banks, dedicated to supporting families all year round.’
She added: ‘Throughout my recovery, I have thought deeply about the children in our world facing the most devastating living conditions and those tirelessly working to protect them. I’ve reflected deeply on the ongoing war against children, a fight I am fiercely committed to.’
Friends and fans then rushed to the comments to congratulate the star on the new addition to her family.

Broadcaster June Sarpong wrote: ‘You look STUNNING ❤️Congratulations Honey!!’ as Zawe replied: ‘love you Miss June X’.
Others penned: ‘congrats for the second child, enjoy your time❤️’; ‘So good to see you ! Stunning congratulations’.
The Daily Mail have contacted Zawe’s representatives for comment.
Zawe revealed she was expecting her second child in an interview with Vogue back in June.
And in July she finally set the record straight about her relationship with Tom after sparking speculation they’d secretly tied the knot by calling him her ‘husband’.
The star admitted her slip-up sent their loved ones into a furious tailspin.
‘We’ve been engaged for a long time, and there have been publications that have named us husband and wife already,’ Zawe said.
‘Those text messages [from friends and family] were very… there were some toxic paragraphs that were thrown my way. Like, okay… no, it didn’t happen. We didn’t do it in secret. We haven’t eloped.’

Speaking on an episode of Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver’s Miss Me? podcast, The Marvels star added: ‘It’s just a semantics thing. We call each other husband and wife.
‘At some point, you’re like, girlfriend, boyfriend… We just had a kid with another one on the way.’
‘It’s p***ing off people who are actually married,’ she said. ‘They’re like, “You realise that’s not real yet?”
‘We’ve talked about [marriage]. I think the spiritual bond and the anchoring for what it does for you as a couple and as a family is really appealing to both of us.’
The pair first met in 2019 while starring together in the Harold Pinter play Betrayal in London’s West End before taking the production to Broadway.
They were romantically linked soon after, making their red carpet debut as a couple at the Tony Awards in September 2021.
