Tom Hanks and his second wife Rita Wilson attended the opening night of Tony-nominated director Neil Pepe’s off-Broadway revival of Hold On To Me Darling, which was held at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in Manhattan’s West Village on Wednesday.
Adam Driver stars as country music icon Strings McCrane, who finds himself at a crossroads following the death of his mother, in Kenneth Lonergan’s tragicomedy running through December 22.
The strictly limited, 13-week engagement of Hold On To Me Darling also stars Heather Burns, Adelaide Clemens, Keith Nobbs, CJ Wilson, and Frank Wood.
Rita – turning 68 in 10 days – met the 40-year-old Megalopolis actor while guest-starring as Marnie Michaels’ (Allison Williams) mother Evie in seven episodes of HBO’s Girls, in which he got his big break playing Adam Sackler.
Wilson (born Margarita Ibrahimoff) wore a black sweater, featuring belt detailing at the bare shoulders, and baggy leather pants while her 68-year-old husband wore a green turtleneck beneath a grey blazer and black pants.

Tom was still married to his late first wife Samantha Lewes when he originally met the Set You Free songstress, who guest-starred in one episode of his cross-dressing ABC sitcom Bosom Buddies back in 1981.
Hanks and Lewes went on to end their nine-year marriage six years later, and Rita eventually became stepmother to their 46-year-old son Colin Hanks and 42-year-old daughter Elizabeth Ann Hanks.
The Cali-born couple impressively celebrated 36 years of wedded bliss on April 30.
As for the secret to their lasting marriage, Tom told E! News last year: ‘Finding each other! How about that.’
And Wilson gushed to CBS Mornings last year: ‘We do have fun. You’ve gotta have fun!’
The grandparents-of-three are proud parents of 34-year-old son Chester ‘Chet’ Hanks – who celebrated three years of sobriety on September 16 – and 28-year-old son Truman Hanks, whose last gig was as film loader on Amazon Prime Video series Fallout.
Last Friday, Hanks supportively helped the Sleepless in Settle alum promote her new single, Look How Far We’ve Come, on Instagram by writing: ‘New fabulous song from my favorite recording artist!’
