He’s become famous for never steering away from a challenge and taking on even the riskiest of stunts for his films.

And Tom Cruise proved he is still one of the greatest action hero in Hollywood on Thursday as he was seen filming yet another hair-raising scene in London.

The actor, 61, stunned passersby as he was spotted filming several dangerous looking stunts for the eights Mission: Impossible film.

Tom looked every inch the action star as he posed in a perfect superhero landing crouch, while balancing on the roof of a moving car.

Ignoring the precariousness of his perilous position, the Top Gun star looked calm and collected while zipping down the road.

He showed off his debonair good looks, by sporting the classic spy outfit of a black suit with a white tie and black tie.

Tom was then seen taking on another death-defying stunt, as he swung in midair while holding onto a long rope, seemingly with no safety net beneath him.

The actor looked keen to throw himself back into filming, as production on the next Mission: Impossible movie was finally able to resume following the SAG-AFTRA strikes.

The franchise has seen Tom continually outdo himself and push his body to its limit for jaw-dropping stunts.

Other famous scenes include him scaling Dubai’s 163-floor Burj Khalifa, clinging to the outside of a plane as it took off, and holding his breath underwater for six minutes.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Tom said that he has been ‘doing different stunts’ since he was a child and that he kept doing them because he felt they were important for the ‘storytelling’ of his films.

He explained: ‘I feel that [when] acting you’re bringing everything, you know, physically and emotionally, to a character in a story.

‘And I’m able to do it [stunts], and I’ve trained for 30 years doing things like this that it allows us to put cameras in places where you normally are not able to.’

Tom arrived into London by private jet from Florida earlier this week to recommence shooting for the eighth film in the franchise

The next instalment – which will likely be called Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two – has started up again after the strike delayed the production.

Tom was originally scheduled to return as field agent Ethan Hunt on June 28, 2024, but the strike forced the studios to rejig the release date, pushing it back by almost a year.

Instead, Paramount Pictures has moved A Quiet Place: Day One into the slot, starring Emily Blunt.

The Mission: Impossible film series, beginning in 1996, is based on a 1966 television series of the same name.

Production on the eighth film had originally halted so that the cast could promote Part One, and then the strike began causing further delays.
