Netflix star Tituss Burgess has talked candidly about his split from Pablo Salinas, revealing he is ‘happy’ that his ex has moved on – but can still find himself struggling with his emotions.
The couple, who remained relatively private, broke up ‘amicably’ in August 2022 after 10 years together.
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt actor, 44, said the pair have remained ‘good friends’ as he revealed he has focused on his career to help him work through it.
Speaking on Friday’s Today with Hoda and Jenna, he said: ‘Every day is a new day, quite literally. You know, my emotions side swipe me.

’10 years is a very long time, and your energy becomes tethered to someone in a way that you don’t realize until they are not there.’
He told hosts Hoda Kotb, 59, and Jenna Bush Hager, 41: ‘Luckily, for me my relationship ended amicably, and we are good friends and he is happy in another relationship and I am so happy for him. And I have my work.’
Hoda was blown away by his wisdom about wanting the best for his ex, deeming his comments ‘profound’.
‘You said, “I’m happy he is in another relationship.” It takes a long, long time for people to say, if ever, if they ever say though words,’ she observed.
Tituss graciously replied: ‘He was my best friend. Don’t you want your best friend to be happy?’
The former couple used to live in Harlem with their dogs, Micah and Hanz.
In April, Tituss admitted to Drew Barrymore, 48, that he was finding the separation ‘difficult’ – but insisted that both parties were ‘better off’ for it.
‘I was in a 10-year relationship and it ended last August,’ he said. ‘It’s really hard prying your energy apart from someone and realizing what is your own.’
‘It’s been very difficult, but illuminating and eye opening,’ he added. ‘We’re both better for it. We love each other, me and my ex-man and we’ve learned a lot from each other, but our time expired and we’ve moved on.’
