In a shock still from the film, the actor, 32, is the spitting image of his Oscar-winning father as he flashes a eerie grin – in a scene reminiscent of his father’s most famous role.
The actor – who began in his screen career in the mid 2000s – has already starred alongside greats including Jared Leto and Reese Witherspoon.

Ray, whose mom is Nicholson’s former partner Rebecca Broussard, shocked fans with an eerie grin in the new movie, which was near-identical to the Oscar-winner’s maniacal smile as Jack Torrance in the 1980 Stanley Kubrick classic, The Shining.
In a legendary scene, an insane Jack hacks at a bathroom door with an axe as his cowering wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) screams inside.
As he busts a hole in the door, he sticks his face through, grins and exclaims: ‘Here’s Johnny!’ in an improvised line.
Fans quickly took to social media with comments including ‘ no DNA test needed here. Fantastic’, ‘his eyes look so much like his dad and the smile omg lol. I wish him the best of luck!’ and ‘The villain who smiles just HAS to be played by a name named Nicholson LMAO.’
Ray spoke about comparisons to his dad, 87, throughout his acting career at the US premiere Smile 2, telling Deadline: ‘You know, we’re very different people. I was born in 1992. He was born in 1937. The things that affect me don’t necessarily affect him.
‘Obviously, I love him. He’s my inspiration. I ate dinner with him every night, you know? I studied it. That’s how I learned how to be a human being. So, of course, we’re going to be kind of similar.
‘I love him. He’s my hero. I’m the luckiest kid in the world. That’s all I would say about it.’

Smile 2 – also starring Naomi Scott and Lukas Gage – will drop October 18 with The Wrap predicting the film could make $22million over its opening weekend.
The synopsis reads: ‘About to embark on a world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events.
‘Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her past.’
The original horror film starred Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgewick’s daughter, Sosie Bacon, 30, as Rose Carter, a doctor who witnesses her patient experience a traumatic death.
The physician then begins to have her own haunting experiences, including incidents in which she faces people with forced smiles.
Rose quickly learns she must face her own troubling past before time runs out and the evil force claims her life.
Jack has fathered six children by five different women. As well as Ray, he shares a daughter Lorraine, 34, with Broussard.
Following in the footsteps of his famous dad, Ray began an acting career in the mid-2000s.

He was featured in a small role with Jared Leto in 2018’s The Outsider, and went on to pick up another modest portrayal in 2020’s Promising Young Woman opposite Carey Mulligan.
Jack’s last on-screen appearance came in 2010’s little known How Do You Know, starring alongside Owen Wilson and Reese Witherspoon.
The New Jersey-native has dodged rumors for years that he’s retired from acting as he is battling dementia and is unable to remember his lines.
