They looked like they were headed for a long lasting friendship.
But former Married at First Sight couple Lucinda Light and Tim Smith made headlines last month after they unfollowed each other on Instagram.
And now Tim has opened up about why he severed ties with the fan favourite.
‘Lucinda was a little different to who he had been married to during filming,’ the 51-year-old businessman said in an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle on Thursday.
He continued: ‘The cameras do that to people. Lucinda may have buckled under the pressure with so many people wanting a piece of her.’
The pair, who split before making their final commitment on the hit series, appeared to be close after filming ended a year ago.
But in a revealing comment to the publication Tim said he did not walk away easily, and added: ‘Eight chances was enough.’
Still, Tim appeared to wish Lucinda, 43, well in her post-MAFS career but hinted at cracks in their friendship that came after MAFS.

‘Hearing bits and pieces that were untrue, stuff that was twisted, that has been disappointing,’ he said.
Tim also complained that MAFS contestants had let notoriety go to their, they he refused to put Lucinda in this group.
He also expressed a wish to get back to a normal life after his jaunt on reality TV.
Meanwhile an insider, described as a ‘close friend’ told the publication that Tim cut things off with Lucinda because she had allegedly been ‘gossiping’ about him.
During the interview Tim said he expected friends to come forward and tell him they had a ‘problem’ with him.
‘Lucinda was a little different to who he had been married to during filming,’ the 51-year-old businessman said
He also explained that he did not expect to talk about him in a way he would not appreciate.
Tim said that he and Lucinda had different priorities and were moving in ‘different directions’.
It comes after Lucinda confirmed to the Daily Mail Australia last month that Tim had blocked her on social media.
‘There are no hard feelings on my end,’ she said. ‘My arms and doors are always open to him.’
According to their season 11 co-stars, Lucinda and Tim’s falling out has come as a shock.
Some told the publication they were confused by their quiet split but suggested it may be because Lucinda is ‘too busy’ to spend time with Tim.

Others agreed, with one star claiming ‘there is a lot of resentment towards Lucinda because she’s getting the most work and opportunities’.
However, they went on to add Tim was the least likely to be ‘jealous’ of Lucinda’s post-show success.
It comes as Lucinda’s fans base appears to be growing since her appearance in MAFS this year.
