Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner shocked the world this week when they were seen together in public for the first time in two months.
Less than one year ago, it seemed the pair were hot and heavy. They were attending Hollywood award shows together and sitting courtside at the New York Knicks, and even had romantic rendezvous in the south of France.
But in recent months, Chalamet, 29, and Jenner, 28 – who shares two children with ex Travis Scott – have sparked breakup rumors amid the actor’s busy work schedule, which included filming Dune: Part Three overseas and promoting his upcoming sports-drama film Marty Supreme.
Now, multiple sources have told the Daily Mail that the relationship, which started in 2023, was close to collapse before their latest appearance together in New York City – their opposing views on marriage and settling down have allegedly driven a wedge between them.
‘Timothée was on the brink of calling it quits with Kylie,’ one insider exclusively told the Daily Mail.
‘His career is skyrocketing and the last thing he wants right now is to be a father.’

However, a second insider explained that Jenner is ready to ‘be married and have a family’ with Chalamet – but she won’t wait forever.
‘Marriage and children have been discussed, and they aren’t on the same page on timing because he is actively pursuing his career,’ the second source told the Daily Mail.
‘He still wants to build the foundation of his career before he settles down, but Kylie is ready to lock down.
‘She already has her career, all the money in the world, kids. She now wants to be married and have a family with Timothée.’
Chalamet, a New York City native, made a surprise appearance at the New York Film Festival screening of his upcoming movie Marty Supreme, directed by Josh Safdie, at the Lincoln Center on Monday evening.
Eagle-eyed fans spotted Jenner at the event, keeping a low profile backstage.
They were later photographed in matching black ensembles heading downtown to an after party at The Waverly Inn in Manhattan’s West Village.
The pair were seen smiling, holding hands and keeping their heads down before being shuffled into a black SUV.

Chalamet has been spending his time in Budapest, where he’s filming Dune: Part Three. The couple were last spotted together at a coffee shop in Budapest in August (seen with fans)
The outing appeared to be a sweet reunion for the couple, who hadn’t been seen together since August, when a fan snapped a selfie with Jenner and Chalamet at a coffee shop in Budapest.
Chalamet had been living in the Hungarian city while filming the third installment of the science-fiction franchise for which he shaved off his signature curly brown locks.
Meanwhile, Jenner has been busy at home in Los Angeles, where she lives with her two children: Stormi Webster, seven, and Aire Webster, three.
Most recently, the billionaire beauty guru flew to France for Paris Fashion Week before reuniting with her boyfriend one week later in New York.
Despite conflicting schedules and thousands of miles between them, it is understood that Jenner and Chalamet have kept in contact while he is filming, as a source previously told the Daily Mail she ‘secretly jets off to see him when she can.’
It hasn’t always been an easy road for the A-list couple.
The pair connected back in January 2023 when they were both invited to attend a Jean Paul Gaultier show in Paris.
They confirmed their relationship in September of that year with a steamy makeout at a Beyoncé concert in Los Angeles.

However, their romance sent some members of Chalamet’s devoted fanbase into a spiral, as some fans lambasted that Jenner would be the catalyst for the end of his burgeoning career.
The most loyal of Chalamet’s fans – including 58-year-old Simone Cromer, known by her online alias Club Chalamet – went so far as to eradicate all mention of Jenner while others launched a campaign dubbed ‘Operation Unwelcome’ to ‘protect’ Chalamet from her.
Ahead of the Christmas Day release of Marty Supreme, Cromer has begged both fans and the media to drown out the ‘piggybacking noise’ that is Jenner.
Although their romance has appeared to withstand the online hate, it is unclear exactly how long their unconventional dynamic may last.
The first insider told the Daily Mail that Jenner ‘dropped the baby talk’ with Chalamet as early as one week ago, but he ‘doesn’t want [the relationship] going to a place that he’s not ready for and not comfortable with.’
Jenner was 20 years old when she welcomed her first child, Stormi, with her rapper ex (real name Jacques Bermon Webster II) in February 2018.
They went on to welcome their son Aire in February 2022, before calling it quits less than a year later.
While Jenner may now be ready to start a family with her current beau, our second source maintained that she still ‘wants to give him the distance he needs to continue to pursue his career.’
‘She can’t fathom losing him, but she isn’t going to wait forever,’ the source told the Daily Mail.
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Chalamet and Jenner for comment, but has not heard back.
