Timothee Chalamet topples Leonardo DiCaprio at the box office… after thrashing him during awards season

Timothee Chalamet beat Leonardo DiCaprio in the best actor category at the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Awards, and now he’s stirring the pot by taking over the movie box office.

They may not want to admit it, but the actors’ competitive game just got a little more hectic with Chalamet’s Marty Supreme knocking DiCaprio’s One Battle After Another out of the park in gross revenue, according to a post on X shared by Global Box Office, which tracks worldwide box office, movie news and reviews.

Chalamet, who was blasted by Chelsea Handler for bragging about himself during the movie’s promo tour, has proved the victor.

Adding salt to the wound, Marty Supreme was made at less than half of what it took to produce One Battle After Another, per the site.

‘MARTY SUPREME ($65M budget) has officially outgrossed ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER ($140M budget) this Tuesday domestically,’ the post began.

‘Timothée Chalamet hit $72.3M yesterday, while Leonardo DiCaprio’s film got a $71.6M domestic total,’ it concluded.

The revelation comes after Chalamet took home the trophy at Sunday’s Golden Globes in Beverly Hills for his role as the aspiring table tennis champion.

The other contenders for Best Performance in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy included George Clooney for Jay Kelly, Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon, Lee Byung-hun for No Other Choice, Jesse Plemons for Bugonia and DiCaprio for One Battle After Another.

DiCaprio, 51, appeared to take the professional thrashing in stride, even congratulating Chalamet, 30, on his win during a commercial break at the star-studded show.

Footage captured by E! News shows the two actors hugging and exchanging friendly words. DiCaprio appeared to ask Chalamet how he was, and Chalamet appeared to respond, ‘I’m studying you, man.’

The guys continued to talk until the announcer said everyone had one minute before the show started up again.

DiCaprio graciously posed for a photo with his acting rival before the two returned to their seats.

To top it off, Chalamet is believed to be the shoe-in for a Best Actor Oscar nod.

DiCaprio also is predicted to be included in the Oscar mix, but awards analysts and prediction markets, such as Gold Derby and Kalshi, say Chalamet has a higher probability of winning the statuette reported to be made of solid bronze and plated in pure 24k gold.
