Timothee Chalamet gave his Mexican fans a bit of a surprise, donning a gold luchador mask at the Mexico City premiere of Dune: Part Two.
The 28-year-old actor has admitted in a 2020 interview that he was a ‘massive WWE fan’ growing up, seemingly bringing that passion to the premiere.
He was spotted walking around the red carpet at The National Auditorium in Mexico City wearing the mask, seemingly honoring the ‘lucha libre’ Mexican wrestling tradition that has roots dating back all the way to the late 19th Century.
The outing also comes after both Chalamet and his co-star Zendaya admitted it was ‘weird as hell’ kissing each other on screen since they’re such good friends.
The New York City native stepped out in a stylish grey suit coat over a slightly-unbuttoned black dress shirt.

The coat sleeves were also rolled up over the black dress shirt sleeves, with the actor also rocking a bizarre black Prada belt.
He completed his look with matching grey dress pants and stylish black dress boots for the premiere.
Both Chalamet and Zendaya starred as Paul Atreides and Chani in the first Dune movie released in 2021, though Chani was a much more scant presence.
She primarily appeared during inexplicable visions Paul would have, ultimately meeting her in the flesh at the end of the film.
The second film – which is adapted from the second half of Frank Herbert’s sweeping epic 1965 novel – follows Paul as he teams up with Chani and her Fremen people to get revenge on those who destroyed his family.
As teased in the various trailers, Paul and Chani develop a romantic connection, though the actors spoke with Entertainment Tonight about how ‘awkward’ it was to kiss each other on screen.
‘It’s definitely strange,’ Zendaya said of their on-screen kissing. ‘I think both of us are just like, “All right. This is our job. OK, we’re going to do this.”‘
Timothée went further, calling the intimate display ‘weird as hell’ because the two are ‘so close, platonically.’

‘In the scope of the movie, it’s totally what is happening, but I also feel like we are so tight now that it really is just like another day at work,’ he added
The Little Women actor joked, ‘I don’t know what that says about the nature of our jobs, but it’s just another day of work’
Zendaya also credited director Denis Villeneuve for helping them get through those intimate scenes on set

‘In this specific love story, I think we’re so grateful to have Denis at the helm of this very special thing. He always found a way to somehow — amongst all of the epicness that is the Dune universe — find a way to carve out a very sentimental, beautiful love story that is, I feel, in many respects, earned,’ she said.
