TikTok famous Italian Nonna brutally roasts the A-list fashion choices at the 2025 Oscars: ‘Rubbish dress’

TikTok famous Italian Nonna has ripped into global movie stars and their extravagant fashion choices at the 2025 Academy Awards, which took place on Monday.

Sydney-based Nonna Fina, who regularly rates celebrity outfits on her daughter Maddie’s social accounts, gave her unfiltered opinion on this year’s Oscar gowns.

No star was safe, with Nonna taking a swipe at the likes of Ariana Grande, Zoe Saldana, Timothée Chalamet and Lily-Rose Depp, among others.

Daughter Maddie began their latest video by asking Nonna what she thought of the bubble-inspired Schiaparelli gown Ariana, 31, walked the red carpet in.

‘You’re already giving me rubbish? Straight away? It looks like a curtain at the bottom,’ Nonna said, referencing the cascading tulle skirt on the garb.

She proceeded to give the Wicked star a ‘six out of 10’ score, before moving on to Guardians of the Galaxy actress Zoe Saldana.

‘Oh, mamma mia. What the hell. The dress looks like balloons. Five,’ was Nonna’s brutal verdict of the ruby Saint Laurent dress the movie star, 46, wore.

As for Whoopi Goldberg’s metallic look by Christian Siriano, Nonna said: ‘This dress looks like it’s going to space. Astronaut. No I don’t like this I’m sorry. Four.’

Not even Hollywood hunk Timothée Chalamet was safe in his yellow suit, with Nonna declaring she didn’t like the colour, though she rated him a seven out of 10.

Nosferatu star Lily-Rose Depp copped the harshest criticism for her black lace Chanel garb.

‘Oh no. Look at this dress. Come on Madeleine don’t give me this rubbish dress. It looks like pyjamas in disorder. Five,’ Nonna said.

Despite her stern opinion on many of the outfits worn to the Oscars this year, there were some looks the TikTok sensation couldn’t fault.

Selena Gomez was largely hailed as the best dressed at Hollywood’s night-of-nights as she stepped out in a custom Ralph Lauren gown with Bvlgari jewellery.

Nonna agreed with critics, saying of the crystal encrusted garb: ‘Oh this is nice. I like everything. Ten.’

Elle Fanning also got a glowing review with her custom white Givenchy and Cartier jewellery.

‘Ah this is nice. That’s a surprise. I like everything. Nine,’ Nonna said.

The 97th Academy Awards honoured the best films of 2024, with the star-studded ceremony being held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Conan O’Brien made his debut as Oscars host after joking: ‘I only agreed to host so that I could get invited.’

This year’s ceremony had an unusually unsettled field in many of the most high-profile categories, including best picture and most of the acting categories.

The musical crime flick Emilia Pérez led the nominations with 13, including for best picture, actress (for Karla Sofía Gascón), supporting actress (for Zoe Saldana), director (for Jacques Audiard), adapted screenplay and original song.

Karia Sofia, 52, stars as the title character, a former Mexican drug lord who comes out as a transgender woman and fakes her own death in order to reinvent herself as a pro-social force.

While Zoe played an ethically challenged lawyer who helps set up her new identity.

Nosferatu star Lily-Rose Depp copped the harshest criticism for her black lace Chanel garb. 'Oh no. Look at this dress. Come on Madeleine don't give me this rubbish dress. It looks like pyjamas in disorder. Five,' Nonna said

The Brutalist landed in second place with 10 nominations, including for best picture, director (for Brady Corbet), actor (for Adrien Brody), supporting actor (for Guy Pearce), supporting actress (for Felicity Jones), and original screenplay.

Adrien, 51, starred as a Jewish Hungarian architect who immigrated to the US after surviving the Holocaust.

The epic historical drama followed his character László Tóth’s attempts to realise his creative vision even as it conflicts with the petty desires of his wealthy benefactor (Guy).

Wicked tied it for 10 nominations, including for best picture, actress (for Cynthia Erivo), and supporting actress (for Ariana Grande).

The blockbuster musical is an adaptation of only the first half of the theatre musical of the same name, a re-imagined prequel to The Wizard Of Oz starring Cynthia, 38, as Elphaba, future Wicked Witch of the West, and Ariana as Glinda Upland, who becomes Glinda the Good.

All three movies were beaten in Best Picture by Anora which tells the tale of a young woman from Brooklyn who meets and marries the son of a Russian oligarch against the wishes of his family.

Other best pictures nominees included A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Dune: Part Two, I’m Still Here, Nickel Boys and The Substance.
