One week into Black Music Month and Tiffany Haddish is set to release her new song, Woman Up, on Friday, May 7.
The actress, comedian, and singer took to her Instagram page on Thursday to promote the catchy pop single on her Instagram Stories.
‘So this song is coming out June 7 and it will be available everywhere darling,’ she teased in a selfie clip as the catchy pop song played in the background.
Written by Grammy-winning songwriter Diane Warren, Woman Up and its dance-y pop groove comes complete with an anthemic sing-along chorus, as displayed by Haddish during a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show where she played a snippet of the tune.
The host proceeded to pose the question about what would happen if it becomes a bonafide hit, which prompted a big beaming smile: ‘Wow, if it’s a hit song it would be a blessing. I would be very happy.’

Tiffany Haddish, 44, announced she’s releasing a new song, Woman Up, that was written by longtime hitmaker Diane Warren
While discussing the origins of the song, Haddish said it captures the spirit of female empowerment and overcoming obstacles, during an interview with Billboard.
‘I hate to see you this way / Lying in your bed, covers over your head, thinking that it’s over,’ the Los Angeles native, 44, sings on the upbeat anthem. ‘But it’s not, just stop / And woman up.’
‘I am beyond excited to share this incredible song Woman Up with the world,’ the Girls Trip actress said in a statement with the publication. ‘Collaborating with legendary songwriter Diane Warren has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. The essence of this song accurately describes how I get myself motivated on a daily basis and pick myself up when I need it most.’
‘It was great to work with Tiffany on Woman Up. It’s a song about being knocked down and picking yourself back up,’ Warren, 67, added. ‘Tiffany makes you believe every word, that nothing can hold you back or keep you down.’
Warren’s track record as a songwriter bodes well for Haddish, considering she has written nine number-one songs and has 33 top-10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 during her career.
Her run as a songwriter for other musical artists dates back to the 1980s and includes Rhythm Of The Night (DeBarge, 1985), Who Will You Run To (Heart, 1987), If I Could Turn Back Time (Cher, 1989), When I’m Back On My Feet Again (Michael Bolton, 1990), and Because You Loved Me (Celine Dion, 1996).
While many of those artists are considered pop stars, Warren’s reach across genres also includes country, rock and dance such songs as How Do I Live (LeAnn Rimes, 1997), I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing (Aerosmith, 1998), Music Of My Hear (Gloria Estefan and NSYNC, 1999) I Turn to You (Christina Aguilera, 2000), and most recently Say Don’t Go (Taylor’s Version) (Taylor Swift, 2023), among others.
