On Monday’s grand finale episode of Australian Idol, the final three were whittled down to one worthy winner.

The final three were Amy Reeves from Broome, WA, Denvah Baker-Moller from  Rockhampton, Queensland and Dylan Wright, from Bangalow, NSW.

It quickly came down to Amy and Dylan who sang their hearts out for their final chance at winning the public vote, which came in at record numbers.

The ultimate decision came down and Dylan walked away victorious, winning the $100,000 cash prize and a recording contract with Sony Music Australia.

Dylan was left speechless, managing to utter: ‘Thank you. I don’t. I’m about to cry! So, thanks!’

He performed his winner’s single, Paper Heart, to rapturous applause.
