The Valley’s Janet Caperna reveals secret health battle after losing 20lbs in less than two weeks

The Valley’s Janet Caperna has opened up about a recent health scare that caused her to lose 20lbs in less than two weeks.

The Bravo star, 36, told Daily Mail that she went to the hospital twice after she was unable to stop vomiting following an indulgent holiday dinner and night of drinking with her friends and family.

What she initially thought was just a bad hangover or run-of-the-mill food poisoning turned out to be a serious case of acute gastritis and colitis.

‘It’s usually set off by something like food poisoning and it was just wreaking havoc on my body,’ she said.

‘It was like my insides were wrung out and it felt like I had hot glass moving through me,’ she continued.

‘If I had a baby sip of water I would throw up. There was no relief.’

She said that the ordeal lasted for 12 days and that all up she lost close to 20lbs.

‘I look sick, so I can’t just start going about my normal life again and not say something, because if I post on Instagram people are gonna be like, “Are you okay?”‘ she said.

‘I don’t want to glamorize looking like this because I look genuinely ill.’

The mom-of-one previously lost around 70lbs over the course of a year and a half after the birth of her son Cameron in 2023 by dieting and doing Pilates.

‘I feel like I worked so hard over the last year to go to Pilates and to eat at home most of the time to lose weight in a really healthy way,’ she said.

‘Instead of jumping on Ozempic to lose my baby weight, I did it the hard way. I was physically strong, I had muscles and felt really good about myself, and now I just feel like a pile of bones.’

Speaking about her health scare on her podcast This Side of the Hill, Caperna said that she’s now focused on ‘getting healthy and gaining weight back’.

She also blamed her overindulging during the holiday season for her gastritis and vowed to be more mindful of her eating in the future.

‘I had such a merry, wonderful holiday season that I actually took a pause on taking care of myself,’ she said.

Caperna admitted to drinking more alcohol than usual, in addition to eating an ‘excess of dairy’ that included ‘eating a third of a cheese wheel on Thanksgiving’.

‘I think my body was like, “B***h, you are 36 now. You can’t just treat me like a garbage disposal.”

‘The doctor basically said that my stomach and intestines were inflamed because I’d put something in there that wasn’t sitting well with my body,’ she added.

Now that she’s feeling better again, the reality star is focused on her health, as well as the upcoming third season of The Valley.

Filming has already wrapped on the new season, which will be the first without Jax Taylor.

Scheana Shay will also be absent from the new season, despite making guest appearances during seasons one and two.

Instead, Vanderpump Rules fan favorites Tom Schwartz and Lala Kent have been added as full time cast members.

The series is expected to return to Bravo in the coming months.
