Bianca Censori’s shock nudity at the Grammys was not a game of dress up for Kanye West, but a carefully planned out statement by the designer herself, a close friend of the controversial couple has revealed.
The Australian native, 30, sent shockwaves across the world when she dropped her fur coat on the red carpet to reveal her naked body underneath a sheer mini dress on Sunday night, prompting renewed fears for her safety amid claims she is in a controlling relationship.
But a close friend of the couple, who married in secret in December 2022, has furiously slammed the speculation, insisting Censori is a ‘willing participant’ who was empowered by her husband, 47, to make a statement about ‘simplicity and provocation’.
In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com they described how West creates the outfits with his Yeezy designers, Censori included, and declared an arrest for indecent exposure would have strengthened the couple’s message.
‘Bianca is not being forced at all,’ they said. ‘She is a willing participant in this, and she is not controlled by Kanye. They build these looks together, sharing ideas and vision against the establishment of fashion and culture.
‘Ye is empowering Bianca, and Bianca loves this. They are doing this together, so any suggestion that they are not in on this together is false.’

Censori’s red carpet moment fuelled previous concerns for her well being, with body language expert Judi James claiming her stance suggested ‘suppressed fear’ and ‘anxiety’.
‘Her arrival in the coat came with a confident, superior, runway model stare but her glance up at Kanye before she removed it suggested a flicker of what looked like nerves,’ she told DailyMail.com.
‘Once she’d bared though, her eye expression changed to one that suggested suppressed fear. Her legs crossed, and the way she placed her hands uncharacteristically awkwardly on her hips hinted at some last-minute anxiety.’
Censori’s friend dismissed the concerns and insisted West’s wife did not believe the look to be ‘inappropriate’.
‘She dresses as a statement, creating an ambiguous message between simplicity and provocation,’ they said. ‘The look is about the simplicity of wearing nothing. It was only meant for one quick moment, but clearly that moment became a lifetime. This look made a bold statement.
‘How can it be viewed as obscene? Classical art was full of obscenity. Obscenity does not come from a nude body but from an obscene mentality, which is unfortunately due to many factors throughout history. She does not think the look was inappropriate at all.’
Censori’s eye-popping stunt prompted calls for her to be arrested for indecent exposure, with many circulating a picture of a young child peeking out from behind the red carpet and catching a glimpse of her barely-there outfit.
Their friend brushed off the complaints and insisted that Censori ‘really doesn’t care what anyone thinks,’ adding that she is a ‘confident woman who is encouraged and supported by Ye.’

Censori is seemingly no wallflower. She attended the £19,000-a-year Carey Baptist Grammar, where former pupils recall her as a ‘social butterfly’.
At 18, she enrolled at the University of Melbourne, gaining a degree in architecture, an achievement that would later land her the role of Head of Architecture for Yeezy in 2020.
She is also listed as a joint officer and manager of Oxpaha LLC, which West founded in October 2023.
Her apparent love for boundary-pushing fashion was evident long before she started dating the problematic rapper-turned-designer who has faced accusations of Antisemitism in recent months, as well as sexual assault claims.
She was previously a creative director at Lebanese fashion label Raga Malak with business partner Gadir Rajab, and served as a model for many of the brands risqué looks.

Since meeting West, Censori has sparked a fierce debate over how much input she has in her fashion choices, having been pictured in tiny triangular body suits which barely cover her modesty, as well as taping over her breasts and replacing clothing with oversized stuffed toys and pillows.
Sources previously told DailyMail.com that West ‘has a set of rules’ for her which include ‘never speak and wear what he wants her to wear’.

The designer was pictured throwing her leg in the air as she grabbed the microphone and sang Adele’s Rolling In The Deep.
She swapped her transparent dress for a plunging sheer black thong leotard with her bottom on full show and finished the look with knee high boots.
