Insiders tell me tonight’s commitment ceremony saw some of the most jaw-dropping revelations yet – from Morena Farina‘s dramatic showdown, to Paul Antoine having a breakdown, and Clint Rice being blindsided by Lauren Hall‘s bizarre expectations.

But that’s just the beginning. Here’s everything that went down… including the sensational backstories to the drama they don’t show on TV.

Morena’s secret deal to stay on the show

Morena was absolutely determined she would not go on the couples’ retreat, and only told producers she would after striking a last-minute deal with the show’s top brass.

It was apparently ‘chaos’ behind the scenes as Morena, 57, was at her wits’ end and ‘ready to walk’, an insider tells me.

She even threatened to get police involved. 

‘She was ready to leave and told them, “I’m going to call the police – you’re holding me against my will. Give me my phone,”‘ my spy reveals.

‘But the producers just put their hands up, acting like they were innocent. They kept insisting, “No, no, no, we’re not holding you against your will. Put your hands down. We haven’t touched you.”‘

According to my insider, the network stepped in and was prepared to let Morena go.

However, senior figures at EndemolShine Australia, the production company that makes MAFS for Channel Nine, staged a last-minute intervention to bring her on side.

‘Morena had made it clear she wasn’t attending the retreat. She was done with Tony [Mojanovski, her on-screen husband],’ my source says.

‘She had the big boss on the phone, speaking to her for a long time. They talked her round by framing the retreat in terms of holding Tony accountable, telling her, “Are you really going to let him get away with everything he’s done to you? You know he’s married. He loves her [his estranged wife]. He wanted her to come into the experiment. He think you’re too old for him, calls you a sl**, even headlocks you.”‘

My insider hints there is an even bigger revelation to come, telling me, ‘There’s one more bombshell [about Morena and Tony] but that’ll have to wait.’

After being talked off the edge, something in Morena shifted, explains my source.

She returned with a fiery determination to destroy Tony, and wouldn’t let the relationship experts or other cast members get in the way. 

‘At first, she was saying, “I don’t care,” but then something just clicked. She told them, “Alright, if I go [to the couples’ retreat], I don’t want to speak to the experts [at the commitment ceremony].

‘They’ve never had my back. I’ve been attacked on that couch every single time. But tonight, I’m the one speaking – no one else. I just need to confront him.’

And so MAFS top brass made a deal: Morena agreed to go on the retreat in exchange for being allowed to ‘make a grand entry when Tony is on the couch and rip into him’ – without interruptions or any of the experts defending Tony.

‘And that’s exactly what she did – and then she walked out, completely reneging on her agreement to do the retreat!’ adds my spy.

Paul’s outburst was an open secret

The biggest moment of Sunday’s commitment ceremony will be Paul Antoine having to address a disturbing incident with his ‘wife’ Carina Mirabile that was largely downplayed on the show.

At Wednesday’s dinner party, the Frenchman confessed to punching a door during an argument with Carina in their apartment. The other participants seemed shocked – but I can reveal most of them were already aware of what had happened.

One bride had reportedly overheard producers running up and down the hallway in a panic discussing how they had to repair the door ‘before anyone finds out‘.

Producers were on the phone with their bosses and tradesmen trying to secure a ‘quote to fix it’, and were desperate to hide the damage from hotel management.

According to my insider, Carina was pulled aside immediately and she made it clear that she wasn’t scared of Paul.

‘She told producers, “I don’t feel unsafe. He wasn’t aggressive towards me,”‘ says a source who was not present during the conversation but was later told what was said.

In a shocking twist, Paul even offered to voluntarily leave the show in the aftermath of his outburst, but the producers made the call for him to stay so he could be held accountable by the experts at the commitment ceremony.

Paul’s ‘breakdown at the CC’ was one of the most intense moments of the night, and possibly the whole season, a cast member reveals.

‘Seeing Paul completely broken and in tears on the couch was brutal,’ they tell me.

‘He was ashamed, but the experts didn’t hold back, grilling him for a long time. It was one of the toughest moments to watch.’

Paul struggled to defend himself as the experts pushed him for answers. While he was remorseful, the experts weren’t convinced and pressed him further on his history of jealousy.

Clint completely blindsided by Lauren’s bombshell

Intruder groom Clint was left stunned when ‘wife’ Lauren dropped a shocking confession at the commitment ceremony.

He had no idea Lauren felt so strongly about traditional gender roles until she emasculated him for doing chores in the apartment, insiders reveal.

‘Clint was shocked when Lauren criticised him for doing her laundry and cleaning the apartment while she was away,’ one of my sources says.

‘He couldn’t believe she saw it as a bad thing. Clint has always taken care of himself and his home – and who wants to live in a messy apartment surrounded by dirty laundry? Other wives were saying they wished their husbands tidied up. Lauren’s unhinged reaction really made him question if she was the right match for him.’

‘She was worried that his domestic nature meant he wasn’t the dominant male she was looking for,’ my source spills.

‘Clint was baffled. He thought he was being a good partner, but to Lauren, it was a turn-off.’

After a tense discussion about gender roles, Clint was determined to prove that he could be the ‘alpha’ Lauren wanted.

Lauren remained skeptical but agreed to give him a chance.
