The Killers are reportedly being lined up for a huge pre-match performance at the UEFA  Final in May.

The rock band will hope to start Europe's biggest match in style, as sources claim they'll take to the stage at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest for the Pepsi Kick-Off show.

The final, which takes place on May 30, will feature two of the remaining 16 teams left in the tournament, with the draw for the knockout stages taking place on Friday.

It's thought that this performance is also linked to a top-secret advert that the band's frontman Brandon Flowers has filmed with .

Typically the Champions League final draws in millions of viewers across the continent, with Paris Saint-Germain lifting the trophy last year in Munich after beating Inter Milan 5-0.

A source said: 'The Killers are locked in to perform at the Champions League Final. They've got seven big shows across the world next month and in April, but on May 30 they will be in to get the party started.'

They went on to tell The Sun: 'The band have filmed an ad with David to tease the performance, which is going to be released in the coming weeks.

'It's going to be an epic Kick Off Show, fans can expect the band to play some of their biggest hits.'

While The Killers are heading out on the road for a string of new shows, frontman Brandon previously hinted that fans won't have long to wait for a new album.

Confirming that they have 'been writing,' the singer said last month 'the best Killers record' is right around the corner after a five-year wait.

Fans have been eagerly waiting on news of another album since the release of Pressure Machine back in August 2021.

Speaking in a new interview on Wednesday, Brandon said he was figuring out the 'logistics' as he also works to release his solo projects.

'My best guess is that in 2027 you will get the best Killers record,' he confirmed.

It's thought that the performance is also linked to a top-secret advert that the band's frontman Brandon Flowers has filmed with David Beckham

I have two records complete. One is almost mixed. The other will follow shortly. I’m trying to decide how this is going to work logistically.'

Speaking to The Sun, Brandon explained how the band's huge 90-plus gigs in 2022 and 65 more in 2023 kept them busy as well as a residency at Caesar’s in 2024.

He added: 'The production and time that went into it all wiped out 2024, 2025 wrapped up so the two solo records I expect will be coming out in 2026. We’ve been writing here and there.'

This year, some fans of the rock band The Killers only just discovered the origin of the band name, after 25 years.

The musicians behind iconic anthems such as Somebody Told Me and Mr. Brightside were initially formed in Las Vegas in 2001 by singer Brandon and guitarist Dave Keuning.

The following year, they added additional band members in bassist Mark Stoermer and drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr.

But it seems that even die-hard fans have been in the dark about the popular band's name, only now realising what it really means.

The Killers name actually came from the fictional band featured in the music video for New Order's song Crystal from 2001.

Brandon was a huge fan of New Order and spotted the name on the drum kit of the fictional band in the music video, per The Mirror US.
