The Apprentice viewers react with discomfort to the cooking challenge: “Unbearable to watch, and they still want a tip!”

Fans of The Apprentice fans were left cringing over a ‘too painful to watch’ cooking challenge during Thursday’s launch.

As the series returned with a brand new host of contestants, Lord Sugar tasked the group with hosting a corporate away day at Cawdor Castle in the Scottish Highlands.

And while putting their leadership and business skills to the test, it seemed the contestants lacked one important attribute, common sense.

The girls set about organising a day out on the river followed by a fishcake dinner, while the boys opted for abseiling, Scottish dancing and toad in the hole.

During the chaotic scenes the girls served up fishcakes coated in sugary crumble after getting it mixed up with the breadcrumbs and ‘raw’ pudding which they had accidentally microwaved after getting it confused with the oven.

Helping out in the kitchen for the boys, Ollie was on dessert duty but failed to grasp the distinction between tablespoons and teaspoons and then forgot to add flour in to the brownie mix.

The guests were less than impressed, especially after a meagre welcome drink of bottled water – but that didn’t stop the boys asking for a tip.

Baroness Karren Brady branded the girls meal ‘the worst food I’ve ever seen,’ while Ollie’s kitchen disaster resulted in him being the first candidate to be fired.

Viewers cringed over ‘second hand embarrassment’ and branded the episode ‘hell from start to finish.’

Sharing their thoughts on X, one fan wrote: ‘You have to admire the sheer cheek of it asking for a tip from that crowd.’

‘This is too painful to watch,’ another added.

Someone else laughed: ‘First crumble on the fishcakes now they missed the flour in the brownies. This is brilliant.’

‘The audacity to ask for a tip when they’re asking to leave,’ another wrote.

A fifth added: ‘The second hand embarrassment over these disastrous meals is just too much.’

One viewer said: ‘Corporate Away Day tasks stress me out so much. It’s hell to watch from start to finish folks.’

Baroness Karren Brady admitted that trying to keep a straight face is chaos when the show’s contestants make a mess of a challenge.

Shocked by the team’s awkward mistake, This Morning presenters Rochelle Humes, 34, and Rylan Clark, 35, asked the motivational speaker how she keeps it together during Thursday’s show.

Rylan asked her: ‘Do you ever not go, what are you doing?’

Smirking, Karren admitted: ‘Well I think it was total chaos.

Rylan chimed in: ‘There it is, the Karren face, the Karren face. The face of fear,’ as a clip of her on The Apprentice trying to guide a team to the finish line was shown.

The business executive, who was joined on the show by fellow star Tim Campbell, 46, then admitted that her ‘Karren face’ is actually her look of exasperation.

Lord Sugar is currently on the hunt for his next ‘big time’ business partner and someone that is going to make him millions.

And after whittling down thousands of applications and holding countrywide auditions, the mogul, 76, was horrified to discover that his latest recruits had made him a financial loss during the show’s first task.

The 18 candidates are challenged with hosting a luxury away day in the Scottish Highlands but the paying customers are left far from satisfied.
