Terri Irwin Addresses ‘Thirst Trap’ Backlash Over Son’s Post

Terri Irwin has shared an intimate detail about her famous family in the latest episode of The Apple and The Tree podcast.

The 61-year-old widow of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin said that she has an informal contract with her kids that ensures she never drops anything online without first running it by her son Robert Irwin, 22, and her daughter Bindi, 27.

Describing herself as a ‘boomer’, Terri said she relies on her children to make sure she doesn’t make ‘dumb’ mistakes in what she posts.

‘As a family, we still bounce off each other with everything,’ she explained to podcast hosts Richard Wilkins and his son, Christian.

She continued: ‘Like none of us ever post on social media without running it past the other one, because sometimes there’s some dumb thing that I’ve missed.

‘Or as a boomer, I say everything wrong. So they’ll go, “Oh, you can’t do that with your hands. It looks like a gang sign.” And I’m like, “Oh, I didn’t know that”.’

Terri then added, ‘It’s nice when your kids still come to you and say, what about this? It’s very nice.’

Elsewhere in the chat, she gushed over Robert and Bindi.

‘They’re amazingly good kids. I just, I’m so blessed because we are very close as a family,’ she said.

‘And I would have been fine if, you know, they had ended up in Europe or LA, or wherever they wanted to be to seek their dreams.

‘But they love working at Australia Zoo.’

It comes after Terri came under fire recently after sharing an innocent post of her heartthrob son, which sparked thirsty comments from hordes of female fans.

The proud mum shared a photo of the TV host back in October, praising Robert for his recent successes on Dancing with the Stars US.

Perfect for working out, dance rehearsals, or looking too cool!’ she wrote in her caption, while endorsing the Australia Zoo branded activewear he was wearing in the image.

Robert’s fans quickly swamped the comments with compliments for the Wildlife Warrior.

‘You feel like an upsettingly hot distant cousin. Your dad helped raise millions of us,’ wrote one person.

‘He is so handsome. You must be so proud,’ said another while one more commented, ‘Robert is looking so good in that activewear!’

‘I’ll buy it if he’s worn it haha,’ joked someone else, and another fan added, ‘Looking more and more like Chris Hemsworth.’

In April this year, Terri told Stellar Magazine readers she was still happily single.

In the interview, she confessed that she has never seen the need to date another man since losing her husband Steve Irwin 19 years ago.

‘I’m sure there are a lot of lovely people out there in the world, but I did find my happily-ever-after, and I think I still have a lot of love in my life,’ she said.

Known as the Crocodile Hunter, Steve was tragically killed in 2006 when he was pierced by a stingray while filming a documentary.
