Teri Hatcher has revealed she was kicked off dating app Hinge as she candidly discussed dating at 59 with ET.
The Desperate Housewives star said of her time on the app: ‘There [were] enough people that I did not respond to, because they would text me things like, are you still “real and spectacular?” — and I’m like, OK, that’s not who I want to date,’ she recalled.
Other potential matches didn’t believe she was the ‘real’ Teri Hatcher, she said.
‘So I never answered those people, and I think they got mad and went and complained and said, “There’s somebody on here pretending to be Teri Hatcher,” and so they just kicked me off. It was probably silly to even try it,’ the former Desperate Housewives star added.
Teri Hatcher chatted with ET about her dating life this week and confirmed, ‘I did get kicked off of Hinge,’ which she previously discussed on the podcast Getting Grilled with Curtis Stone
She said about her experience on the dating app, ‘There [were] enough people that I did not respond to, because they would text me things like, are you still “real and spectacular?” — and I’m like, OK, that’s not who I want to date,’ she recalled
She explained, ‘…But I was kind of trying to say to the universe, “I’m open. I’m not afraid.” I was trying to do that, but I think it’s the wrong place for me.’
Getting candid about her journey to find love again, Teri revealed: ‘I’ve sort of given up.
‘I mean, I don’t want to say I’ve given up. My heart is open. But, you know, I have lovely friends. I travel, I experience things. I take care of my parents. I love my cats. I garden. I go to the beach…. It’s just a very full life and the truth is, I think this person, if there ever is one, is just going to have to be really special, you know?’
Hatcher was married twice before — to Marcus Leithold from 1988-1989, and later to Jon Tenney from 1994-2003.
She and Tenney share 26-year-old daughter Emerson Tenney.
‘Rather than pining away, I’ve chosen to just put a lot of effort into the life I want to live,’ the longtime actress told ET.
Back in January she shared about the popular app: ‘I complained, I was like, “Can I have my money back [because] you kicked me off?” They apologized, and then I was like, “Eh, I’m sort of over it.”‘
She declared: ‘I’m definitely done with the dating apps, and I feel like if there’s any way I’ll go somewhere and meet someone, that’s what it’s gonna have to be.’

Hatcher stars in the upcoming Lifetime movie The Killer Inside: The Ruth Finley Story, based on a true story.
The crime story is based in 1970s Kansas and follows Ruth Finley, a housewife who was living in Wichita at the same time that a serial murderer called the BTK Killer was on the loose.
‘I think what’s great about the movie is [it’s] for two different audiences — one which is, if you don’t know anything about Ruth Finley, I think you’re going to be watching a really entertaining psychological twist-and-turn thriller,’ Teri shared.
She added, ‘But if you do know about Ruth Finley, I think the minutiae of how we are able to reveal and delve into the kind of anxiety that existed within her and that community during the episodes of the BTK Killer… I think that’ll be really interesting.’
