Miles Teller is set to star in a modern version of the classic 1982 film An Officer And A Gentleman, according to a Friday report from Deadline.
The 37-year-old will play the lead in the romantic drama, a role originally brought to life by Richard Gere.
Miles will take on the character of a young man who joins the Navy Officer Candidate School to become an aviator.
In the original film, Richard’s Zack Mayo became romantic with a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, Paula, played by Debra Winger, and is under the instruction of his no nonsense Marine Sgt. Emil Foley, played by Louis Gossett Jr..
The film was a major success, grossing $130 million at the domestic box office and $190 million globally and earning six Oscar nominations.

Louis won the statue for best supporting actor – becoming the first African-American actor to win in that category – and Up Where We Belong also snagged the win for best song.
Temple Hill is producing the remake, with Dana Fox penning the most recent draft of the movie.
Dana’s long list of credits includes early aughts classics such as The Wedding Date and What Happens in Vegas.
But Miles is no stranger to taking on the role of a man in the armed forces, as back in 2022, he played hotshot Navy pilot Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw in Top Gun: Maverick.
And fans may also get to see the Whiplash actor return to the Top Gun universe one day.
‘That would be great, but that’s all up to TC,’ Miles told Entertainment Tonight about Tom Cruise, who starred in both the 1986 original film and the sequel. ‘It’s all up to Tom. I’ve been having some conversations with him about it. We’ll see.’
One thing is for sure: the film created a special bond between the actors.
Miles gushed about the 61-year-old: ‘For him to share with me and a lot of these other young actors it’s just been such a wild ride, and it’s still going.’
But in between playing heartthrobs in major motion picture movies, the Divergent actor puts his energy into one role in particular: husband.
Miles tied the knot with his wife Keleigh in 2019 and the two have shared sweet glimpses into their romance ever since.

‘Happy 37th birthday to my Phila-Florida-jersey- boy, you hung the [moon emoji]. Keep on flying,’ she wrote on Instagram in February. ‘I’ll stand by and watch you shine forever. Go birds.’
Alongside her sweet words, Keleigh included black and white photo booth pictures of Miles, the couple’s Super Bowl ad, and various shots of the War Dogs actor over the years.
In September, the music video model shared an adorable social media shout-out to Miles.
‘Happy wedding anniversary,’ she gushed, ‘Growing old and staying young forever.’
Keleigh included a slew of black and white pictures from their wedding day and honeymoon.
Fans flocked to the comments section to show their love for the couple, with one follower writing, ‘Happy Anniversary!! Your pics always make me smile. You two ate definitely a beautiful couple and have that classic movie star look going on always,’ while another chimed in, ‘One of the best couples in the industry. so unproblematic and so cool!!! wishing you guys many more anniversaries.’
An Officer and A Gentleman earned six Oscar nominations; seen with costar Debra Winger
The couple first met in 2013 while attending a Grammys after-party for the Black Keys.
‘We both had mutual friends of the band,’ Miles told Vogue in 2019. ‘Keleigh had caught my eye early in the night, and we talked. I didn’t think it went well, but after a few more attempts, I got her to dance with me, and a week later, we went on a date. After we met, I knew she was the one.’
Keleigh echoed her man’s sentiments, telling the outlet he was ‘so charming and charismatic. I adored him from the first moment we met.’
And just last month, the model gave fans a look back at her husband’s iconic role as Canadian film producer Albert S. Ruddy after the 94-year-old’s passing.
‘We lost one of the greats this past weekend, RIP Albert S. Ruddy,’ Keleigh wrote alongside images of Miles portraying the producer and Albert himself. ‘Miles had the pleasure of living in his shoes for months, portraying a living icon Al in “THE OFFER” whose magic and joie de vivre for life was unmatched. It was a Joy during that filming. A once in a lifetime man to this industry.’
She added, ‘He lit up speaking of @wandamcdaniel his incredible wife we love you, and his daughter @ruddybuddy who keeps this legacy going. our hearts are with you.’
